There is no selfish "outside" God... we are God. And we all create reality together. There is no one else to blame. Look up the word Pantheism.

Listen, you need to calm down. God is not selfish you are. First off God gave us choice because he wanted us to make decisions on our own. That's not selfish, He would be selfish if he made all our decisions for us so we would do what he wanted us to. You are obviously being convicted that's why your so worried. Why is it you don't want to choose God? Is it because your scared that if you do get saved and live for God that you have to live this straight in line life you can't have fun and your whole life is ruined? That's what people think. When you become a Christian you become some Bible thumper and you have no fun. That's not true. You have so much more when you become a Christian. For instance myself. This happened not to long ago. I had been kicked out of the house of these people I had stayed with because they didn't like me and I had no car no place to live and I was working part time not barely making enough to get by. I prayed long and hard for God to deliver me and help me. That day I found a place to stay and when I got to work on Monday my boss gave me a full time position and I'm getting my own car next week. He says in His word He will provide all my needs and he did. You have the choice whether to serve God or not but He doesn't make that decision for you.

I, for one, tend to feel that this sort of logical reasoning is another example of the illogicalness of God. When Henry Ford said "your car can be any color that you would like, as long as it's black" was he really giving consumers a choice?
If God really does love you, why does he demand (and oh boy, does he demand) that you prostrate yourself on the ground in worship, begging him to give you eternal presents, and not to send them to the place of fire and brimstone? Would anyone regard a parent who treats their child this way as even remotely sane? What kind of well adjusted person thinks that true love is being a slave to a benevolent master, who rewards the slaves that heed his every whim, and punishes the disobedient ones (for the rest of eternity, in this case)?
Of course, there is very real possibility that you are not, in fact, actually probing the intricacies of the illogical nature of the belief in the supernatural, and are actually just having a harmless crisis in faith, and you are looking for someone to prove your statements wrong
To which I would recommend the following: do what all the Christians do, and that is, to just ignore the logical fallacies, meditate on how God is so mysterious that you can't understand him, reflect on how wonderful it is being a slave that doesn't have to worry about anything (because Master will provide everything) and then go on your merry way.

People are inherantly selfish... and are we omnipotent?
Don't you figure that if we are made in god's image and we are selfish... as little characatures..... that god must be UBER-selfish by default?
Then again.... might you consider that you have been given the option to believe something that makes no sense..... or to disbelieve it because it makes no sense? .... It doesn't make any sense either way... *shrugs*...
O'course... there isn't any point in being angry at a god if you don't agree with what he / she has set forth. Afterall, the only "reason" to believe in a god is because it seems convenient... and "nice" ..... If you're not getting what you want from a nonsensical belief then why even have it at all?
Perhaps you should just accept only that everything that is given to you is nonsense..... everything you are told is suspect.... everything you are party to is deception and misdirection.... Even your own senses lie to you.
Your life is your own, but your surroundings are forever unknown to you..... so your choices are never going to be based on what is, and thus make no difference on what is. They make all the difference in only your private little world.... which is where you will be forever:
Your world.
Remember that.

God gave us free will and choice because he didn't want a bunch a robots. He's NOT selfish. Think about all the wonderful things he's given to us here on earth. He's made each of us unique. He gives us each breathe we take. He's created so much beauty. He came down and died for YOU. (you can't find greater LOVE than that) Would you be willing to die for someone knowing that that person would be angry at you and not want anything to do with you...even hate you?? That's exactly what God did. Think about that.

The simple answer is because He is God. He's the only one who can make a claim to creation. Therefore he's the only one who can make the rules. The rules are based upon his character. He loves because He is love. He practices justice because He is just. He gives forgiveness because He is forgiving. I suffered from similar feelings until I finally absorbed what forgiveness truly is. God is not a God of do this or else. He is a God of,"Yes, you really f-ed up, but I love you and forgive you." It doesn't matter how often, or how despicable you sin. It's forgiven.

i have thoughts like this....it still confuses me....everything confuses....whether we have a God or what....but, I just don't push myself to think so hard because there are answers that cannot be found in our human minds but in the depth of our soul -- in our hearts....and i tell you, there is no God who is selfish....if God created us then He only wants the best for us because we are his creations....if we didn't get the things we wanted then maybe it's not good for us...can you just imagine life and humans in this world if we are given the freedom to choose not to side with God or Evil? Where would we go? How are we gonna live our life? You see, if it wasn't for knowing God we would know what's good and evil....If it wasn't for knowing what's good and evil we would know how to dealt with life and direct ourselves to the path we wanted...it's how we find the sense of living............and don't be tired of life....there's so much in life......

God can be interpreted in many different ways. You should read other ideals on God, other beliefs on the afterlife that have nothing to do with the Christian version of God. You may find that you prescribe to the belief that God does not exist or you may find yourself more enlightened as to his existence. My point is that only after researching the real truth that you find in your soul will you ever be at peace with the course of your life.
Do not let others dictate what makes you happy, only that would be a disappointment to a true God.

Perhaps, given your apparent emotional state, you should suspend your inquiry into the nature of God and focus on the meaning of your own existence, and whether or not it is better to exist or to not exist. From our lack of absolute knowledge about the state non-existence, I think that you should prefer to exist, and make the best of it. From what I know of God or the gods, the one thing that they cannot coerce you to do is to either believe in or worship them, that is entirely up to you. In terms of classical Christian theology, the worship and service of God is a response of praise and thanksgiving, not an act of coercion. In fact, God has no desire for love or worship that is coerced. Further if God is truly God, he is utterly self-sufficent in himself, and has no need of your praise or your gratitude. He is not diminished in any way by your failure to acknowledge his existence or your unwillingness to honor him. So don't sweat it. There is a phrase by an early Christian theologian by the name of St. Ireneaus that might give you some insight into what the Creator/creature relationship is meant to be all about "the glory of God is humanity fully alive." Take his advice and start living, and start living well and maybe all your inquiries about God might be less frustrating.

I am your god, listen to me and see how good I am.
Cheer up, have a couple of beers, listen to some music, dance a little bit, get a girl/boy friend and have some fun.
When you're in a better mood, come back and we'll talk then.
Take it easy!0!
Oh, I almost forget...Do you have any money to buy beer?
If not, go to the nearest church and tell this to whoever is there: Your god and my god told me to come here for some cash.....Smile and wait. They'll give it to you.
