Since your earlier question was how to Garden, now this one, indicates a sincere interest on your part for this field. I started Landscaping with my Father in 1965 (I was a child in those days). I have a BS in Management, yet, I always remained attached to and in the Landscape field.
Gardening/Landscape is a science. Every year the field finds new plants, new methods, new chemicals, and most important, new challenges. Mother Nature is a true B....
A Professional seeks out the education available on a yearly basis and utilizes the past experiences (good and bad) to make it work.
The greatest part of Landscaping is that in time you get to see your vision become reality. In many ways it is like watching a child grow. I planted this garden and envisioned it to be this five, ten, fifteen years later. You can go back and see if your vision was fulfilled. It is a rush!! That aside, you get to work outdoors (although the planning, business, phone calls, etc. are indooors) and truly feel each and every season. On the downside you do truly feel each and every season! Hope this helps. It is a great life and with dedication can make you good money.

First I would like to say that gardening to me is therapy. It is relaxing and very un-stressful and a great way to unwind after dealing with the stresses of life. It just about equals fishing with a worm, lol.
I grew up farming. From dairy farming to produce. It's in my blood and I'm grateful. Now not farming anymore I garden. I grow the standard vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, rhubarb, horseradish, garlic, onions and basil. I help (LOL) my wife with the flower beds.
I believe that the healthful benefits from gardening besides the mental benefits are numerous. I appreciate the fruits of my labors. There is nothing like pulling out canned or frozen veg tables in the middle of the winter. It is wonderful to watch the plants sprout and grow and then produce their fruits. Any gardener that grows tomatoes will tell you that there is nothing a gardener loves more than that first tomato sandwich of the year. Spending the time with my children teaching them to garden and letting them know how much better something you grow yourself taste is very fulfilling. From the garden to the kitchen and the cooking. Spending time with my gardening friends on-line world round is a benefit I have come by only these past few years.
I could be a middle aged guy that hangs around drinking beer or being a couch potato. I am not. Thanks to my interest like gardening.

I am not a professional gardner, I don't do it for others. My life is pretty stressful, I have two children one of whom is multi handicap. To me nothing feels better than digging in the dirt. It is very difficult to work in garden and be stressed out about life. I have always said I could solve the worlds problems while gardening. I don't enjoy the flowering rewards as much as I enjoy the work that goes along with it. I also know there is a difference in landscaping a yard and gardening!

Its very relaxing and mind easing. My mind is only thinking about the job at hand, whether it be planting, pruning, cutting, etc. It simply takes away the things of the world.
