I think it differs from situation to situation. A rape victim or someone who's health is at risk should be able to terminate if they wish. But I feel very strongly that if you are having sex and get pregnant, then you should own up and not be able to use abortion as a form of birth control. I try not to judge without hearing the whole story, but I always suggest the other option of adoption, because there are so many couples that want nothing more than to be able to conceive and cant. Let them raise the child.

Also, FOR THOSE WHO ARE RATING who give negative ratings to this questions answers: I have read the answers recieved so far and they are receiving thumb downs. You know what, the person who asked this question wanted OPINIONS. And that is what everyone here is giving, their opinion on the subject, just because you dont agree with something dont give it a thumbsdown.

Well, some people are basically "pro-life", but still feel abortion should be available in specific circumstances, such as rape, incest, sexual abuse, or when the life of the mother is threatened by the pregnancy. So I guess that would be how you could take the approach of not agreeing with abortion overall, but not wanting to eliminate it altogether either. It has been widely debated that the number of instances where abortion is being utilized for these specific circumstances is very small by comparison to those using it just to rid themselves of unwanted pregnancies, but I am not sure of any actual numbers on that. At any rate though, that would certainly explain how people can appear to feel "both ways" on the subject. On one hand, they feel it is wrong to use abortion casually like birth control, but on the other hand would they see a loved one die with a life-threatening pregnancy issue, no they would not. It's a complicated issue, one I usually won't go into with anyone, but just wanted to add my two cents in that there can be valid reasons why people are of a dual opinion on the matter.

I think most people are able to see both sides of the issue and it's hard to be a strict pro-life person. That means that you don't accept abortion in any instance like rape, incest, severe life-threatening deformity, or danger to mother. Most people agree that abortion isn't birth control. It shouldn't be used like that. There are more effective ways that aren't as traumatic to have birth control. If you are responsible enough to have sex, you should be responsible enough to handle the consequences. However many people can sympathize with the harder cases like I mentioned above. That's were the lines on right or wrong get blurred for most. It's a complicated issue with a huge impact on values and culture. That's why we have debated this issue in America for decades.

I agree with pro-life, but agree with abortion too under certain circumstances. For instance if it is medically necessary, if the mother, child, or both are going to die if the mother continues with the pregnancy. Also if the conception was b/c of a rape I think that the mother should be able to get an abortion, but she should do it ASAP, like the day after pill or something like that, b/c I think the mother would resent the child if it were something like that and maybe not take care of the child or herself in pregnancy. I definatley DO NOT think abortion should be used as a form of birth control as some girls do. Those are just my views on it, everyone is entitled to their own.

I am pro-life and I do not agree with most cases of abortion. I believe that in most cases abortion is wrong. I don't agree with the use of abortion as birth control, sex selection, population control, or to provide fetal tissue for transplantation. Even babies produced by a rape are God's creation, why kill them for an event they could not control? In very rare cases where the mother could die in child-birth it is her right to choose whether she or the baby will live. But in most cases abortion is wrong.

That's just a subject where many have "mixed" feelings, such as myself. I don't think abortion is right, but I have seen, first-hand, some cases where a child may have been better off. My sis, for example: She keeps having children, yet she cares for none of them. They have all been taken away because she abuses them. She managed to kill one due to a pre-mature birth because of her drug abuse, and improper care. She almost killed another at 6 weeks of age by shaking him and cracking his skull and ribs. He survived, but with damage to his retina, and brain. And I am raising her oldest two 14, and 12 that I couldn't get away from her until they were already damaged by the physical abuse and neglect she put them through for years. Of course, abortion is not the answer here, the answer should be to lock up as*(*holes like her, and make sure they never have children again. But then you get into personal rights as well, when you talk of sterilization. But I am all for that! She should be locked up and all her female parts taken out! But that's not legal, sooooo where does that leave one? It's just a no-win situation in some cases. When she delivered the still-born preemie baby, our whole family praised God for taking that baby to heaven so she couldn't hurt him the way she had all her other children. It's just a messed up world!

I don't agree with abortion UNLESS you medically will be at risk of harm and or the baby (mentally retarded or other defects this world is cruel enough), Or you were raped. In the case of rape you aren't excited to be pregnant and most likly you won't take care of yourself. On the other hand you can also give it up for adoption! My Fiance was born to an unwed mother whom was 14! SHE was smart enough to have him and give him to a family that loved him. They are now close and have a wonderful relationship. I think you get negative answers for abortion because HELLO it's not only bad on your body it's also killing a child. I'm not being rude just stating why you get rude answers on the question. I am a mother of two and one on the way can't even imagion life with out them.

Pro-life people DON'T agree with abortion. That's kind of the defining factor of the Pro-Life movement. Its like saying you believe in God but you're an atheist. Contradictory. Oxymoron. Polar Oppisites...need I go on? People who agree with abortion (any type) call themselves Pro-Choice.

I don't agree with abortion at all. Only sometimes, like if a girl became pregnant after being raped. Other than that girls should be protecting themselves (condom,bc). I know too many people who use abortions like birth control.

I really dont know, I suppose its because in some cases abortion is best for the mothers well being such as if she was raped or something like that. I get really cofused when thinking about this subject as I can see both points of view and kind of agree with different aspects of both of them.
