If you have had it for a year the odds are it's nothing too serious.Anything really nasty would be much worse by now.Go back to your doctor and he can decide if further tests might be necessary and what is the correct way to proceed.IF you sit back and worry about a diagnosis you will only make yourself very uptight and unwell with stress.Think of the relief to you and your system when you are told it's nothing to worry about,it's just a cyst or a fatty deposit and that it can be easily dealt with Have confidence in the people looking after you.

You really need to go straight back to your doctors, it could be a number of things, like a block hair follicle that has become infected, it could be a cyst, it could be a abscess.
My daughter had a lump in the armpit and it was a blocked hair follicle.
Try not to worry too much, as it could just be something very simple.
My doctor always told me that if any lump hurt it would not be cancerous.

I would get it checked out, I may be wrong and don't think you're going to die just because I've said this but I think armpits have something to do with lymph nodes which I think is related to cancer, but then again I could be wrong and it could be harmless. I don't think lumps are ever a good sign though, so I'd go get it checked out again asap and possibly get a 2nd opinion if you're not satisfied with the response. I'm sure it's nothing but it never hurts to get something checked out for your peace of mind. Good luck!

I believe you must have some sort of infection. You have lymph nodes under your arm, and they filter out infection. The prob is when they filter it, they become infected as well and swell. If this has been going on for a whole year, you really need to see a doc. My neck lymph nodes remain swollen constantly because I am very prone to strep infections (strep throat) and allergies. Maybe there is a simple explanation for your too. You won't know until you visit your doc.
Good Luck and God Bless

I worked in the lingerie department for 4 years. If there is one thing i have learnt is that not all lumps there are cancer. I would know as i had one that made me feel sick as i believed it to be cancer, it turned out to be a blocked hair folicule!!and by god was it sore. there are also glans there that may become blocked or infected so go back to your doctor and stop worring!!that is what would really make you ill!!

It is probably a lymph node. There are many behind your head and under your armpits. There is such a thing as lymphatic cancer! Check it out immediately!!!
If this doctor doesn't do much, go to another and get a second opinion. In fact, get a second opinion no matter what.

It could be a cyst or an ingrowing hair follicle but you should ask your doc what it could be. You will get lots of different answers on here but your doctor will give the correct diagnosis. If you are unhappy with it you can request a second opinion.

It could be as simple as an infected lymph gland or as serious as a tumor. Go to the doctor instead of worrying about it. Finding out what is causing the problem is better than speculating.

see a doctor who will test you for cancer. The lymph nodes are part of your immune system. When people have cancer surgery, they usually remove the lymph nodes in your arm. The cancer cells from your breast cancer travel to the lymph nodes.
Your lymph nodes also take care of other anomalies so you are probably cancer free. You will be sorry though if you don't have it checked out.
My wife had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed three years ago.

The two likeliest diagnoses are a sebaceous cyst or a fibrosed lymph node.
To confirm the diagnosis see your GP as was suggested.
