I agree. I try to be positive in my answers. I also try to be positive in my life. Maybe that's the difference. Some people are so negative all of the time, that it's bound to come through in what they write.

I agree this is a place to see what people thing and if they have been though what ever the question is. I think if you check my answers they have been well meaning and positive towards what he/she is going though. I don't think it's funny to belittle or degrade some one now I can say I did see a 13 year old ask how to give herself and abortion now I'm drawing the line on that one! I feel for her being so young but there is other methods!!! Although this is yahoo and you will find people that are rude because they can hide behind a key board. I asked a simple question and got one of the rudest answers in the history of this! But anyway Congrads to those whom are becoming first time mothers or maybe just a question for a second or 3 or forth pregnancy.

Thank you! I am 36 wks pregnant with my first, and I almost get afraid to ask questions sometimes because some people will be so judgemental and, frankly, mean. I only ask because I honestly don't know, and I just want to do what is best for my baby. It's scary enough to think about having to be 100% responsible for a tiny baby so soon, I don't need people making me feel any stupider than I already make myself feel.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. I thought I was being overly sensitive because I'm pregnant!

Because people do not realize there is a big difference between helping someone by giving them an honest answer and judging people.
Sometimes an honest answer is a judgment, but I do think answers can be toned down and less judge mental.
Some people also just love that soapbox and to stand on it and preach about their beliefs..
I do think some of the questions are hard though, in order to give an honest answer you have to be somewhat judgemental in your opinions. However I do not think bashing on others is the right way to handle it.

it's so true and I've seen it everywhere in yahoo answers, not just pregnancy and parenting. I think it's really easy to be cruel because the computer offers so much anonymity. I think people get frustrated by questions that they feel are "stupid" and common sense. the bottom line is, no matter how "stupid" someone thinks the question is, someone out there really doesn't know the answer and wants to be enlightened. it's not "stupid" to them and at least they're asking! I think if you read a question and feel compelled to be cruel and judgmental, you should probably just skip to another question. people can be really hurt by what is written by others.

I agree with ya, I really feel that some people just make issues bigger then they need to be or their minds are so set on doing something a certain way they can't think outside the box! It really amazes me how parents can be towards eachother when it comes to children. Because you don't see certain issues brought up when they are adults....It's ridiculous. I really feel that people just need to be open minded and stop voicing negativity on others, if you don't like something fine but learn to keep your opinions to yourself...After all we are the adults here........And I can't stand the people that attack other answerer's just because they didn't agree with what they said, this is not yahoo debate! And if you think a question is ridiculous or self explanatory, then don't answer it, plain and simple.

I feel the same way you do. Some people can be nasty, sarcastic and just plain rude. maybe some are just trying to be funny at times, but when you are really serious about a question it can be very frustrating to see negativity.
Just weed out the rude ones, you encounter rude people every day some how and in some way, so what makes us think they wouldn't be on Yahoo!

ever hear - mean people suck - well here they can get away with being mean and don't have to face the person they are trashing. It's a power trip of sorts. It is sad though - but if you see really over the top answers you can always report them there are 20 don’t in the community guidelines that you can site if they have violated, #3, #6 & #7 are most likely the ones that would apply to rude answers they are as follows
DON'Ts

I think many people get angry and concerned sometimes when they read the questions people ask, because they start to worry about the babies involved. Perhaps they are thinking that many are young teen mothers or other people not ready to be parents and it just starts to depress them.
That's just a guess.
But I definitely think people should try their best to be charitable and understanding.
