Here is why:
The purpose of the Iraq invasion was not to liberate anyone or fight any kind of terrorists. Those were all pretenses sold to the stupid American public.
The purpose of the Iraq invasion was to give US oil firms access to Iraqi oil fields. Iraq has the world's 2nd largest oil reserves.
The reason troops are needed is to protect supply lines & allow the oil firms to pump while the troops protect their equipment. Of course, about half of the troops are sent to Baghdad and other places to "fight terrorists" so the news media have something to write about.
There are two reasons gasoline is at almost $3 a gal.
1. It keeps our "Allies" such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen etc. happy and quiet. They know Bush is pumping and essentially stealing Iraqi oil. But they keep quiet because they're now making twice as much money on oil than they were pre-Iraq invasion when gas was at $1.50 a gal.
2. Bush is raping the American public. Oil profits flow in his secret accounts.

If it's "supply and demand," are you saying that demand in 2007 is twice as high as it was in 2002? lol

I do not think you are looking for an answer, but here it is.
1. Supply ( impacted by US foreign policy in the middle east)
2. Demand (impacted by US foreign and domestic policy, such as stimulating production of SUVs , ignoring CAFE standards shifting production to China, ignoring conservation )
3. Bottlenecks in refineries / production( largely artificially created limited number of refineries and their capacity, hence increasing risk of the price increase)
Answer to your detail. You have to analyze all three together.
In the recent years demand consistently increases by 1.5-2% , supply by non-OPEC stayed the same, hence we rely on OPEC. Production / Refining capacity in 1980 was 79% in 2005 it was 94.5% and shrinking. This means minor problem with a small refinery will affect the price drastically - never mind Iran /Middle East tensions.

Yes.. it is supply and demand. The companies will charge what the market will bear. That's capitalism. Has nothing to do with Bush raping the public (and I'm staunchly anti-Bush!)
Someone else said it goes up every spring - and indeed it does - goes up before people start taking vacations.
Dividend payouts from Exxon are sweet. They've just started gas production from the Tabu deepwater gas field off northeastern Malaysia (not the middle east ...)

Why is it so difficult for people to believe your very logical reasoning for the war? They don't want to think they've been fooled! But they have. We all have. You are 100% right in your statement. This is a war for money hungry, greedy war mongers. Oil makes more money than anything in the world. If the US government control this (which is what they are trying to achieve) They will have the most money, therefore, the most power. It's about America being at the very top of the economic "food chain".

You are simultaneously paranoid, ignorant, and wrong. Congratulations.
There are two reasons:
1. There's a high demand for gasoline right now.
2. Gas stations are switching over to their summer blend of fuel, which is a bit more expensive.
Are you aware that the US has no access to Iraqi oil, aside from what we had previously?

Damn, you must have taken twice as many drugs today. You're talking off the wall. It's totally stupid.
The ONLY reasons the gas is up that high is because the oil companies are making their "summer blend" of gasoline or in other words, they needed to quickly raise the price of gas to make more money when people go on vacations. I live very close to an oil company and I've talked with many of the people that work there and the all say the same thing. It's a BS ploy of the oil companies.
You're an idiot I know but then I know you've got nothing but the internet to work with and you can't tall what sites are lies and which aren't.

Suply/Demand - Summer mixes - Iran/Brit Hostages - Mostly destroyed Iraqi oil infrastructure - WHAT EVER!
North Americas' (and most of the worlds')economic infrastructure is completely and uterly dependant on the black juice.
The reason the price has increased (and will continue to increase) is because it can.
Dont' like it? Stop using it.
We North American's ought to keep things in perspective. Our gas is still 50% of what Europe pays. Perhaps if our prices were more in line with theirs we would have made an infrastructure that wasn't COMPLETELY dependant on gas.

Almost! it is $3.57 here! Supply and demand have a lot to do with it. Plus the Oil Cartels are holding back on drilling it.
We as a world are running out of it, so as the supplies lessen, the price goes up. And yes, our oil man pres is getting him and his buddies set.
We need to work on alternative energy and fast.

Yea, makes you think maybe we should have spent 400 billion on finding an alternative fuel source instead of funding a war. Then we wouldn't need to care about the Middle East and its precious oil.

This one has been going around for no less than 5 years or extra. people who placed it out, only substitute the date. the different email going around is approximately no longer identifying to purchase from Exxon or Shell. all of them say "Hit em the place it hurts." "do no longer purchase gas from those companies, or do no longer purchase on a definite date". permit's settle for it. If human beings do no longer purchase gas on the fifteenth, then they'll the two purchase it on the 14th or sixteenth. once you like gas, you like gas. I prefer I knew of a few thing that would quite paintings. The CEO's of the oil companies are making tens of millions, and gouging all people.

I'd be the first to say that our Idiot King has done great damage to America through his bogus "war" in Iraq. And I think the only way to disentangle ourselves from our "friends" in the Middle East is to get off the oil teat let them choke on their crude.
That said, I don't see any verifiable proof attached to your points, and I'd like to see objective analysis regarding both items.
Until then, I think gasoline is $3/gallon because of the seasonal change-over in processing stations, along with the requisite maintenance and repairs that accompany such actions.
