No, german has never been the official languge anywhere in the United States. If many germans settled there however there may have been a lot of people speaking german in that territory. As far as I know the United States doesn't have a national language and never has.

um, i don't think so. i took colorado state history and i don't remember any mention of german, sorry. perhaps it was for a few days or weeks during some period of 'old west' history, but nothing i recall.
