Okay, so my friends (who are Buffalo fans) and I (who is a Ranger fan) were having a debate.
Who is the better goalie, Ryan Miller or Henrik Lundqvist? I know Miller has more wins, but Lundqvist's numbers, especially since the all-star break, are the best in the league. If the Rangers were as talented as the sabres this year, I don't think they'd be close in any category.
Which would you prefer to have on your team, and why? (and I know I'm a rangers fan, but i'll pick the best answer... if you have a reason for me to believe why miller is better, you'll be the best answer)

Lundqvist is by far the better goalie. It's not even really that close.
Put Lundqvist on the Sabres and they'd be a 130-point team this year. Put Miller on the Rangers and they'd be on par with the Boston Bruins in the standings (meaning they would be watching the Islanders' playoff games on MSG Network).
Somebody mentioned that Miller has more wins. Of course he does. It's called playing for a better hockey team.
The Rangers are not a great hockey team by any stretch of the imagination. This team does not conjure up memories of 1994. H.L. has stolen points for them, which is why they are about to clinch a playoff spot. Miller, meanwhile, can give up four goals (three of them of the putrid variety) like he did against Toronto last week and it's okay--his guys will score four times in the last 14 minutes and win 5-4.

This part is to Kelly B...It was time to change! that 10 year vet was Marty Biron who backed up the Dominator and barely played. He was inconsistent when he was the starter and even shared duties with Norrenon for 2 years! Philly was the only place that would even think about having Biron as a starter. It's not like Miller replaced someone like Luongo or Brodeur.
To answer your question, if Miller was on a team that scored about 2.3 goals a game like the Devils, he would be horrible. Buffalo has a potent offense that could have J.S. Aubin in net and still win. When Drury and Briere leave because of FA, lets see how great Miller is. Lundqvist is not a Hasek or Brodeur, but he can get it done even with a streaky team. Jagr doesnt care anymore, Nylander is all right, Straka gets hurt too much, but the Goaltending has been solid and consistent even with his team being off and on.

Alright Miller Vs Lundqvist.
Yes I am a bit impartial but lets compare numbers
Miller 61 games 38 wins 16 loses 6 OTL 114 GA 2.79 GAA .910 SV% 1 SO
Lundqvist 68 games 36 wins 24 loses 9 OTL 157 GA 2.36 GAA .916 SV% 5 SO
So now if were going strictly on stats,Miller has an extra two wins, but has 8 more losses, in 8 more games has given up 43 more goals but has a better GAA, SV% and 4 more Shutouts.
I think personally there are not many teams in this league that would not mind having either of these two goaltenders on their teams. I don't know Lundqvist all that well but I do know that Miller called his players out for their sloppy play in two games with Toronto, he sparked the upward swing. I think last years playoffs, had nothing to do with Miller not being a good goalie but more with the fact that they had 5 of the top 8 defense men lost due to injury. Now you take any of the 16 teams in the playoffs and remove 5 top guys from defense and your team will suffer.

miller has had a much better team in front of him
lundqvist is better in my opinion
he had a stretch of 5 games where he only game up 3 goals
he has been a huge factor in the rangers going from 11th to 6th, they are in 7th now with 2 games to go, but tied in points
lundqvist and miller have both been very good. miller is more popular, but i think lundqvist is better
and for alot of the season, miller has had a solid backup
weekes was no good, then got hurt, and the rangers had to call up valiquette who was a backup in the ahl
lundqvist has made it so valliquette plays as little as possible

Miller is definitely the better goalie. If you look at the stats for the week after the all-star break, all of the all-star goaltenders were struggling. Miller has kept the Sabres in a lot of games. How many rookie goaltenders have stolen the #1 spot from a 10 year veteran? Miller is one of the main reasons why the Sabres have clinched the division and the conference.

Miller is young and inconsistent, but Lundqvist is older and has less talent. I'm a huge Sabres fan but I will not say that Miller is god, but he's better than Lundqvist

lundqvist. definatly. miller has just been so popular because he is on buffalo. and he only has more wins because he is on buffalo. miller dosn't keep them in a game. they do it themselves. the ragrs were strugling earlier on in the season and lundqvist was the only reason they weren't the flyers. he gives them a shot to win every night.

Because he got to be in the NHL Road Trip commercial...
No, but seriously... I don't think Miller's all that great. I don't know what it is about him, but I think he just gets lucky...plus he's got good defenders in front of him...that helps him out. I'm just not impressed...
