I hope he tries, it will be the end of the democratic party! That is like an individual who spits on the troops.

You mean, why is Congress doing what the Constitution requires them to do? Or do you mean, how dare Congress assert that it is actually an equal branch of government?
Ignoring how irrational Cheney's statement is (the one you're quoting)..... Congress has sole power to allocate federal funding. That's their Constitutional obligation. It's not something the President can do under the Constitution. He's not a monarch, despite what he thinks.
So, the idea that Congress is betraying American because they are doing what the Constitution explicitly makes their sole province is irrational. And the thought that they simply have to roll over and do whatever the President wants is a perverse distortion of what the Founders intended when they created separate branches of government.
the GOP congress under Clinton voted to cut off funding for the troops fighting in Kosovo in order to end the war? Yet when they did it, it was not anti-American? But somehow as the Dems are getting ready to do the very same thing if Bush vetos the current bill, it IS anti-American? How very hypocritical of you mindless bushbots. It looks like the only ones that are anti-American are those of you that support putting our troops through the meat grinder in Iraq though you supported cutting the funds off to end that last war.

That's funny. Seeing as how the Republican congress did the very same thing to Clinton during Kosovo.
In order for congress to get the President to do what the people want, i.e, end the war, they will use the power of the purse to persuade him to do what needs to be done, which is get out of Iraq.

He's a moron and deserves to be shot. He's just trying to get a reaction. Of course, what he seemingly fails to understand, is that while most Americans are against the war, they are still FOR the troops. Such an action as withholding troop funding won't happen.

Supporting the troops and supporting the war effort are two totally different things.
Supporting the troops would be letting them come home and see their families and get paid to train, just like they did before the ill-conceived invasion of Iraq.
Providing war funding just keeps the troops in harms way.
Or maybe you think supporting the troops means keeping up the supply of body bags to drag their corpses home in?

I understand that he wants the troops to be brought home, but I think he's going about it the wrong way. After all, withholding funding would only endanger more soldiers' lives.

The democrats passed the funding, Bush wants to veto it. Sounds like Bush isn't supporting our troops to me.

The Dims new before they drafted a bill with a time line it would get vetoed. That is why they did it. They are using our Troops as political pawns and all decent Americans should be outraged.

What exactly is the job of our troops in Iraq?
To kill innocent civilians while trying to uphold justice, or to be killed by IEDs for no purpose.
While I agree cutting funding appears unnecessary and extreme, with Bush recently stating we aren't going to leave Iraq, congress NEEDS to take some action.
How many more American boys and girls are needed to be killed until we realize this war is wrong?

We should all support Senator Reid by not giving him any money for his next campain or not doing any thing for him. And he can see what his idea of support really is.
