It is no different than the liberal Christian groups that helped hezzbollah gain power in Lebanon. Saying they too have a right to be heard. They just need a chance. After gaining that power they killed them all. This is the same thing that is happening to the Democratic party. When the leader of IRAN says over and over he is going to wipe out Isreal and kill all the infedels in the world, you cannot ignore his own words, but the Liberals do. They think you can reason with a madman.

I love how some people try to bait others into arguments. The simple fact as repeated over and over on the news and elsewhere is that Speaker Pelosi accompnied by some Republicans are on a fact finding tour as recommended by the Iraq-Middle East study committee. It is not at all uncommon for members of Congress, especially the high ranking ones, to take trips of this nature. There is nothing illegal about it. Bush and his minions are scared to death that it will show more of their incompetence, lies, or corruption and so they loudly protest.

The legislative branch is simply doing what the executive branch refuses to do. If the Administration won't take part in diplomacy than, somebody else has to do it.

Your charges of dealings with Al Qaeda are totally ridiculous and unfounded. The only place one could hear such nonsense is Conservative hate radio from ol' limpbra or Ann the asp or somone like that.

Did the three Republican representatives who visited Syria on Sunday (Frank Wolf, R-Virgina, Joe Pitts, R-Pennsylvania, Robert Alderholt, R-Alabama) send mixed signals? Or is Bush worried that having a Democrat led delegation sends the signal that the Repbulicans are not in control of the government.

Pelosi is not alone in Syria. Look at who all is with her.
Reps. David Hobson, R-Ohio,
Keith Ellison, D-Minn.,
Nick Rahall, D-West Virginia,
Tom Lantos, D-Calif.,
Henry Waxman, D-Calif.

No.

I haven't been able to figure out why there is so much stir about this. Three Republicans were there a week or two ago and it got not a word of coverage. There are state department people and one congressional republican there with her.

We don't have any diplomatic relationship with Syria at all, and have absolutely no leverage with them

If we don't talk to these people, how will we ever understand what their issues are? Unless, we prefer to send our troops into endless wars, to no effect.

There are 1.3 Billion Muslims in the world. We had better address their concerns, or we are doomed to unending violence.

There will always be some who see diplomacy as weakness. Tragically, the US administration is being run by them.

The big question is whether sending a mixed message is better or worse than continuing to send only the wrong message. I guess it depends on what the ultimate goal is, doesn't it?

No, and this is one of the most un-American questions I have read on Y Q&A for a long time.

Have respect for our elected officials, or leave America.
