What you mean Malinga the Slinga?
Somehow he makes it work - but hurts me to watch it.

Okay, lets clear this up.

Bowling the ball is distinguished from simply throwing the ball by a strictly specified biomechanical definition.

Originally, this definition said that the elbow joint must not straighten out during the bowling action. Bowlers generally hold their elbows fully extended and rotate the arm vertically about the shoulder joint to impart velocity to the ball, releasing it near the top of the arc. Flexion at the elbow was allowed, but any extension of the elbow was deemed to be a throw and would be liable to be called a no ball. This was thought to be possible only if the bowler's elbow was originally held in a slightly flexed position.

In 2005, this definition was deemed to be physically impossible by a scientific investigative commission. Biomechanical studies that showed that all bowlers extend their elbows somewhat throughout the bowling action, because the stress of swinging the arm around hyperextends the elbow joint. A guideline was introduced to allow extensions or hyperextensions of angles up to 15 degrees before deeming the ball illegally thrown.

There is nothing to say that malinga must have his arm any higher than it is and Murali has repeatedly performed his different bowling varieties whilst wearing an arm cast that does not allow such movement.

The ICC might not be the strongest governing body in sport, but they do perform the checks where they are required.

Malinga is S.Lanka's premier fast bowler & he knows his value. He has already retired from Tests, so that he can partake in IPL etc. to enhance his value further. But questions about his priorities arose & fear of country's backlash happened, he must have offered his services, without any contract even. This would appease the country & keep him free to do, what he likes, very much on the lines of C.Gayle, who has made T-20 leagues his main business. He doesn't even bother playing one of the best Test country, Aus, at home. Malinga wants to tread similar paths but with bit more caution. But ultimately its a smart choice & money is the common denominator in all his deals, he is totally professional..

Even I doubt the same thing. It looks more like a throw.
I think there is nothing in Murali's bowling to be suspected.

They tested Murali.

But ICC is more concerned about this than us.
They know whether it is a throw or a bowl.

The same doubt would have arised for them also.Since they are allowing this action it must be a bowl.

He must be throwing/bowling within the rules.

There is no rule against bowling round arm. It is when you straighten your arm, during the bowling action, that makes a throw.

So even though he has an unusual action it is not a throw.

Cricket needs characters like Malinga and Mulli

I agree that Malinga's action is ok as his arm is straight at the moment of delivery. Murali to me is a chucker. Always has been and has been investigated several times. Every time he gets away with it.
No doubting he is a genius with the way he can manipulate the ball but his arm is definitely bent during his action.
