Whats so wrong about this, since we already have a shortage of donated organs?

Everyone seems to be shortsighted here. Aside from the obvious ethical issues, think of all the benifits! There is a current organ shortage, and harvesting organs this way would save thousands of lives (what if its your life on the line)! The least the government should do is have a opt-out system. Everyone's organ upon death will be donated UNLESS the person signs a form to state otherwise.

And Zack, no I am not American. But I will consent to donating my organs upon my death.

First off organ donations are voluntary. 2nd executed prisoners-drugs used to execute render them useless I think. The human body is not a farm to be harvested.

Organ donation is a voluntary program and should remain as such. A person has every right to determine how they wish their remains to be treated.

We do this not only out of respect for the recently departed but out of respect for the families.

Morally harvesting a body for parts without consent is an abomintation. You would be pissed off if a person stripped and old car you had lying on your property without your consent, imagine if they did that to your body.

I can't think of a better way to spread unwanted diseases like AIDS. How soon would it be until we were putting people in prison just simply because we wanted to profit from their organs?

OMG so you think we should just carve up the prisoners and regenerate parts from them. Kinda like a junkyard? That sounds ethical.

I don't know why it is illegal, but just remember, the prisoner was severely medicated. Would you want all of those drugsand most probably diseases to get into your body with a transplant from someone who a lethal injection?????

Whether you commit a crime or not you're still an American and you're still a human being.
Even thinking like that is disgusting. You voted for Bush in '04, didn't you?

The organs do not belong to you. Take what is not yours to give, and you will end-up in a cell as well.
