That sounds like a Rush Limbaugh slogan. The words conservative and liberal are thrown around a lot but nobody really agrees on their meaning.

Backbone is important but backbone is nothing without intelligence. George Bush may be conservative. He has backbone but he's incompetent and he's done a lot of damage to the U.S., not to mention the world.

Better a competent liberal than a conservative with backbone and no brains.

That being said, it takes courage to proclaim one's beliefs, whether liberal or conservative. Projecting your personal opinions about your own beliefs is your right. But, I suggest you consider the possibility that your truth is not the ultimate one for everybody.

Concservatives do not have backbones, they have money.

Democrats are not liberals,lets get that straight. so there are not enough channels for liberal thought to influence like i think it should. I also think most people are liberal, they are just not properly informed.

Your backbone is the appropriate analogy, that's the midsection of your physique, midway between the two extremes of your span, actual u . s . of america is centrist, precise of hippies left of tea partiers. to amplify your analogy, the midsection is basically to the left of your backbone.

what? actually , being a liberal, a free thinker, often takes a lot of backbone, to stand up for what isnt currently popular,,,, to fight for the underdog,,,, to often go against those in power,,,,,,,, to question "the way its always been" etc etc

Liberals are hypocrites, they are for the people but they murder babies and the last I checked, babies were people. Conservatives are stubborn, they are often times unwilling to even investigate change let alone actually change.
