Plotters are very large printers, they usually have a 3 ft or above print width with unlimited length of print (the paper comes in rolls)

They are used predominantly in commercial applications such as topography (maps), Engineering and architecture (blue prints) as well as in large graphical applications such as printing large signs or posters.

Plotting is just printing on a large scale using a plotter.

A plotter is a really large printer. They are typically used to print line drawings like blue prints or circuit schematics on very large pieces of paper, like 6 feet x 4 feet.

They can be used to print most anything a printer can print though.
