in terms of pure talent, no question Arod. Remember, he plays out of position at third, and yet has won two gold gloves there. He hits 300, has superb power, speed and RBi potential. In terms of intangibles and production, I think Jeter gets the most out of his talent, which is considerable also. Obviously, he seems to be the least affected by pressure, so that seems to give him the slight edge over A-rod. I don't think people in NYC will ever really appreciate Arod.
Mariano will go down in history as the greatest closer ever, he will probably retire with close to 520 saves, and that combined with his unsurpassed postseason dominance insure he will be more regarded than Hoffman or Eck. But sicne he is not an everyday player, my call for greatest player on the Yanks is Jeter by a slim margin over Arod

Depends what you mean by "greatest Yankee." Jeter would probably be the choice, however I can definitely see Giambi having a huge year at the plate.

Not everybody gets to be the captain of the New York Yankees. Jeter is the right choice.

Well not many can argue Derek Jeter. I'm going to have to agree he is awesome. He may not be the best fielder, or hitter, but he does it all so well. There is no weakness to his game.
