Printers are simple to install, all you need is the driver. The installation software is just a easy way to install the drivers when people not know how. First go to HP Support and have your Model Number. It may be more than just 1300. On the support sight there may be 10 different HP 1300 Series. I usually have a Folder named; "Downloads" then I make sub-folders for other things one is "Drivers" then I always have them for later if I need. Once you have the Driver go to "Control Panel" > "Printers" > "Add Printer"
On my computer I can also click Start > Settings > Printers > Add Printer
Once the Wizard open read and follow. You will need to Browse to your downloaded driver when it asks.

do a yahoo search on - hp 1300 printer download - you will find a download very quickly that way!
