Hi Eyota,
I think it could be explained by considering he prefaces all his sentences with DUH,. . . .and UH . . . not words that suggest even minimal intelligence.
Michael Nostradamus made the following prediction in one of his quatrains some 500 years ago:
"In the new world ( America ), the Village Idiot will step forward to lead the people".
The lead word is a definite misnomer, but Village Idiot is right on target.
Good question,
Note for Tell Me: Excellent answer and I know of no evidence that suggests bush has the ability to read. ( Can Chimps be trained to read? )
Note to George D: Why is it when you right wingers read something you do not like, you revert to accusing and name calling? There is not even a suggestion of hate in Eyota's question. Her question is based on truth and reality, two virtues that seem to elude most bush backing right wingers.

because he is afraid of these people. He talks big but this man has little knowledge of the world at large, and the Middle East in particular. And sadly enough he never cared. On top of that Bush is not and will never be a diplomat. Bush's ideas behind "diplomacy" are marinated in blood.
This man teeters on the brink of becoming a "passable" comedian. Sorry, but other than that, he is a poor excuse for a president.

The primary reason is because he is just a "cowboy"! Diplomacy takes sophistication and the ability to strategize. Two traits President Bush does not possess.
As in ranching, a bull can charge and injure you but at the end of the day the rancher is the boss and can take out his shotgun and end the bull's life. President Bush is most comfortable toting that shotgun (on behalf of the US?) and can't see any benefit to negotiation when he thinks he has the bigger gun (ie, nuclear technology).

simple, according to Christian beliefs (and Bush is one, whether some of us want to admit it or not).
The only person that will be able to bring peace in the Middle East is the Anti-Christ.... and we all know that Bush isn't the Anti-Christ.. because people are going to like the Anti-Christ.
So basically he doesn't belive that it is possible to have peace there... so instead he is trying to stop the terrorists from attacking us, rather than creating actual peace.

Really good question.
All of GW's problems stem from his inability or unwillingness to convince the American public that his actions are in the best interest of the American people and not just a select few American people.
There are alot of very confused conservatives eager to hear the logic behind continuing the Iraq war. If the ultimate goal is to bring stability to the middle east and to reduce the threat of terrorism in the US, then the current actions have already been proven to be counterproductive. That leads me to the conclusion that peace in the middle east is not really GW's goal.

Lack of ideas. Bush only has two ideas of how to do anything: Lower taxes or invade.
Maybe he should try to lower taxes in Palestine. Yeah, that will do the trick!

First off it's spelled AVERSION.
Secondly, diplomacy only works when the two sides want there to be a peaceful solution. Do you honestly think that Iran, Syria, Al Queda, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the other usual suspects want a peaceful solution that doesn't involve the destruction of the US and Israel?

Because at the beginning of his presidency, he told the "palestinians" he would talk with them when they - as a governing body - did TWO things to demonstrate their ability to run a State that could live in the community of nations:
1. disarm Hamas and Hezzbollah and the other private terrorist armies;
2. recognize Israel's right to exist (demonstrate that the government is strong enough to lead teh people).
They have done neither. No ME country has pressured them to do either.
So WHAT would he be talking about, if this VERY SIMPLE demostration cannot be accomplished?

i think it's because he doesn't understand the history of the region and doesn't care about the discrepencies between the different groups within Islam. it seems that he has some course he won't stray from that does not take into account the needs of the people that inhabit the region. he is looking out for America's immediate needs first which has proven to be a mistake.

I believe that Bush believes he is the ruler of the world and that all other countries must do what he says. What need is there of diplomacy when one has that attitude?
