Renault and Peugeot are two french makes and are well built safe, reliable cars. If you are looking to buy a car on reliability terms then I would advise you buy Japanese.

I have owned 4 different Ford Escorts, A Renault Clio, Toyota Corolla, Peugeot 406, Dawoo Matiz, and now a Lexus IS200 sport.

Apart from the Fords I have had no problems with any of the other cars all were reliable and OK, well except the Dawoo which really lacked power to get up big hills!

No more so that cars from other countries. In fact French Diesel engines are considered to be the best in the world - I believe Citroen makes them for BMW. My most reliable car ever was a Citroen (worst was a Vauxhall Astra).

But put together an irrational dislike of the French and car badge snobbery and you have a winning formula for the sort of answer you are probably looking for.

No, they are much the same as any other car, it depends on the price and what you expect for it, French cars used to have an odd look about them some years ago but they have come a long way since then, I do not have a French car but I have been in some Citroen's and they are very comfortable and nice to drive.

Most modern cars are generally reliable - especially compared to cars of 30, 40, 70, etc. years ago.

However, cars from the French brands do tend to be less reliable than those from the Japanese or German brands.

It can vary from factory to factory - Spanish-built Renaults appear to be more reliable than those built in France.

commonly the wonderful automobiles are the eastern, truly Honda and Toyota. different than that, it truly is slightly a lottery on occasion. The French and Italians have been recuperating plenty over the previous couple of years, by using fact the Germans have been slipping, truly Audi and Mercedes, who do incredibly badly in some customer delight surveys, getting crushed by ability of the likes of Fiat!! Your call, yet while i needed a motor vehicle that I knew might get me homestead every time with out fail, i might purchase a Honda!

Peugeot and Renault? No more than average. Renault is used in racing and Peugeot is more luxury car. May have a problem finding a qualified mechanic and parts outside the dealership.

yes, Citroen and Renault usually come last every year in the 'What' car guides for reliability.
However they are usually cheaper to buy in the first place, so you pays your money and you takes your chances.

just for info...the mazda 6 has come out top for the last few years on reliablity
