I assume you have a router that connects the computers.....
The best way to fix this problem is to reconfigure your router and individual computers.
You should decide if you want *everything* to have a static IP or dynamic IP
Static IPs are assigned by the network administrator (sometimes you)
Dynamic IPs are auto-assigned by the network (router)
The easiest way is to make everything dynamic, and leave a couple ~unused~ IPs open in case a friend brings his laptop over.
HOW TO FIX:
Part 1:
>Access your router's configuration page by entering your network's IP in the address bar of your internet browser
-To find out your IP, click start >> run >> ipconfig (type it in)
>Enter your IP into an internet browser address bar
>Most routers require a username & password....
>Somewhere you will find an option to choose between static and dynamic IPs
>Change it to dynamic
>Enable the DHCP server (it allows dynamic IPs to work correctly)
>Apply the settings
>>Your router *should* be ready now. Different makes & models have different options. Read your owner's manual if you get stuck.
Part 2:
On all your computers, you must change to allow dynamic IPs
{assuming you have IE 6 or higher --> look online for instructions for other browsers}
>Click 'tools' from the drop down menu
>Click 'internet options'
>Click 'LAN settings' (towards the bottom)
>Uncheck all the boxes except 'automatically detect settings' (unless you are intentionally using a proxy >> leave proxy settings alone)
>Apply the settings
>Reset the computer

If the machine is set to DHCP (gets one of a server) then a restart would fix this problem. If the IP was manually set then either report to a the network support if on a company network (they may have added new machine and overlapped IPs) or manually change by going into network connection, IP properties and change the IP.

It's probably because you are sharing an Internet connection. If you are using multiple computers through a single router, the service you are using is likely only seeing the IP address of the router and some services don't allow this. Check your roommates or family to see if there are multiple users trying to access the same service.

I am assuming that you are using Windows XP
Open Network Connections through Control Panel.
Right click your connection and go to Properties.
Select TCP/IP and hit properties again.
Go to advanced and change your IP address to a different non conflict address.
Save and close.
Reboot if necessary.

You can also refresh the IP address by right clicking the Network card icon on your taskbar and click refresh... if its not on the taskbar then go to My Network Places / View Network Connections and Right click the network card and select repair.

Two fixes - a call to your ISP to clear their DHCP server for you and allow another assignment of an IP address.
Or - if you are feeling courageous - go into your router - usually by typing in 192.168.0.1 in your web browser (check your manuel) - set your router to DHCP.
