For some reason this always works for my teenaged son:

Shut up before I crush you with my wallet.

For some reason, it does shut people up!! I think it's because it makes them feel stupid and poor (although there's nothing wrong with being "stupid" or poor :)

Forget what the others are saying, it is sometimes important to have some comebacks ready for a specific type of individual who seems to respond to nothing else.

Because someone talks too much they should be insulted?

Maybe you should try a little tolerence. Is this person lonely? Do they need some attention maybe?

Hurting their feelings won't make them talk less.

When people make cutting remarks to someone to get their point across it is passive aggressive. It is the cowards way of dealing with problems. If this person is someone you have to be around maybe you could steer the conversation to something you are interested in.

If you don't need to be around this person, don't be.
