DeGeneres' relationship with former Another World actress Anne Heche turned into material for the tabloid press. After several years in the spotlight, Heche broke up with DeGeneres and went on to marry male cameraman Coley Laffoon. DeGeneres then had a relationship with actress/director/photographer Alexandra Hedison. They appeared on the cover of The Advocate magazine (ironically, after their split-up had already been announced to the press). Since 2004 DeGeneres has been in a relationship with Arrested Development and former Ally McBeal star Portia de Rossi. DeGeneres and de Rossi currently live in Santa Barbara with 2 dogs and 2 cats.

Ellen Degeneres "came out" to the world about her sexuality while doing her sitcom Ellen - it was even written into the storyline. Though it tanked the show, people have apparently decided it doesn't matter anymore, and she has become one of the most popular hosts on TV.

Yes...but she doesn't throw it in everyone's face at every opportunity...she's pretty low key about it (well, now she is...when she came out of the closet her show "Ellen" was still on and it became all about that). Ellen is a great person and a class act...gay or straight, she is cool!
