Can't say that we have anything exactly like that in my neck of the woods, but we have some awesome breakfast places that have been around for eons. There is nothing like getting up early, throwing on my favorite sweatshirt, putting on a baseball cap and heading out with my hubby for some yummy breakfast with bottomless coffee :)

Oh yes! I'd go to the truckstop on the interstate after work on Saturday nights. Endless pots of coffee and some of the best danged omelets ever! And the place was a total greasy spoon dirty place, but the food was so good.

I know the place. They throw a big ball of ground beef on the griddle and smash it flat with that long metal spatula to make your burger. The fries and deep fried mushrooms are cooked in lard. So are the fried eggs and hash browns.
The apple pie is made on location with lots of real butter in the crust.
And the coke fountain is brixed so that it is heavy on the syrup and the drinks are extra sweet.
The bacon is cooked just short of crisp and the sausage patties are extra thick. You can even get a big bowl of grits with a big pad of butter on it if you like.
The white country gravy has sausage grease in it and big chunks of sausage and it is poured over big, giant cat-head biscuits that are also made with lard for shortening.
The guy at the grill is wearing a white tank top undershirt and a pair of dark pants with a white apron and he pulls your ticket from a rack that runs the length of the grill. The waitress is called Madge and she calls you "hon", and on the surface, seems to hate the cook. All of the tables and countertops are made of that old green formica with gold speckles in it and a radio over the grill is playing some country station that only plays the old classics.
God, I love that place.

We have one in my area with the best chicken fried steaks and biscuits with country gravy, all homemade.
Very hard to find these days as so much food is pre-fab or from a packet.

Only place like that around here would be The Huddle House or The Waffle House. They have the best food. I like going there more since they have banned smoking in the restaurants. People smoking while you eat is really disgusting.
