We can fire him, through impeachment, but it is a very difficult and rare process, as it should be. As was just pointed out, he wasn't hired, he was elected.
As bad a Bush is, enough people voted for him, TWICE, that he was able to manipulate key vote counts in key states and steal the elections. There was ample evidence before the first election, and certainly before the second for Americans to make an informed decision that he is/was completely unqualified.
You reap what you sow and you get what you paid for. Americans are intellectually lazy and easily manipulated (when it comes to politics) by crap that doesn't matter. We are spoiled and soft enough that our fears are just as easily manipulated.
So now we have buyer's remorse. Should the electorate that was dumb enough to buy his crap have the power to jerk people out of office on a whim? No way. Whatever elected officials we have should have the ability to make decisions and show leadership without having to look over their shoulders constantly. We'd wind up with even a more shallow and weaselly bunch than we have now if that were the case.
We have something called elections to remove people. Instead of complaining after the fact, we need to put more time and effort into it beforehand. It's not only our right, but our duty as citizens.
If someone is so horrible, we do have impeachment. The person who said you can only be impeached for illegal acts is wrong. Abuses of the powers of office, while perhaps not technically against the law, can be enough to impeach and convict a President.

Well, first of all it is a matter of opinion that the president can't do the job. It may be right, it may be wrong.
Of course, there is a thing called "impeachment." However, a president can be impeached and still not removed from office if the amount of votes in congress are not enough. This of course happened recently with President Clinton, and also President Johnson in the 19th century.
Something worse than firing would be the rebuke of history. If President Bush is truly doing a bad job, then history will bear that out. Remember, though, we do not have all of the information given to us in the present. It will take years and years before we realize the benefits (or not) of his presidency.
Presidents that are often viewed as unpopular when they are in office are later haled as heroes as more information comes out about them and what they did. Take President Lincoln for example. He was not as popular then as he is today. President Truman is another example of this. I'm not saying W. will be popular in the generations to come - but let's hold out on our judgment.
By the way, a president can only be impeached and removed if he has done something unlawful or unethical. President Clinton perjured himself concerning his personal life. I cannot remember what President Johnson did. However, both men were victims of an evil known as partisanship. President Nixon would most likely have been removed from office, but he did the honorable thing and stepped down to save the presidency from the disgrace. No one has ever been removed, and I don't see it happening with G.W., as much as some would like.
Your question is a good one, and I think that there are Democratic Republics similar to ours that allows the people to hold a special election if the leader has let them down, so to speak. I'm not sure what they are though.

properly, if this have been an absolute democracy we actually might desire to, yet we are quite extra of a Republic or a 'representative Democracy'. The President could might desire to be impeached by Congress, and to try this you quite want an somewhat specific and incriminating reason. jointly as that's authentic we are all unhappy in some way with the present president, to declare that his cabinet and Congress did no longer have something to do with the errors in management is only plane deceptive. At this element i could notably lots assure you that impeachment could no longer take place.

We are trying, & have been, except the mainstream media hasn't covered it as they are owned by the corporations & what they tell you on TV is practically red from script. Many groups including "World Can't Wait" & "V" is for Vendetta, have filed a Petition for the Redress of Grievances. So far anything demanded by the American people has gone ignored. It is wrong, but that is how this administration is going, sad. It is not right that without congressional approval or voters approval they are so called secretly planning to combine Mexico, Canada & the United States with their Security and Prosperty Partnership plan, check it out on Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Xs8bposCc Then type in Ron Paul, in the search engine RESEARCH this candidate. I hope he runs in the next election, he is "For the People", & understands what freedom to America means, he is against the New World Order that our current administration is leading us into. I hope this helps you answer your question, then check out http://www.prisonplanet.com, this should wake you up.

Its called the impeachment process...it can be done...but it is very tough and can be political suicide for those involved...see Bill Clinton. Many who went after him lost their next election and are outcasts.
