Bad officiating has caused many teams to lose games this year. NHL officials are a total joke.

Huge Flames fan here. The reffing didn't really cost them, there were a few questionable calls, of course McGoof was one of the refs so that doesn't help.
No, the Flames looked flat all night until there was about 5 mins left. If they had played 40 or 50 minutes like they had the last 5 the Aves would have lost badly.
The Flames were standing around letting the Aves beat them to the puck. That's what cost them. On the plus side I loved the Freisen goal, priceless.

At the game last night, and neither team played well....but both teams performances were overshadowed by the pathetic performance of the entire officiating crew.

Magoo has something against Calgary to the point that it is almost guaranteed the Flames will lose if he refs (he tried to give Saturday's game to the Canucks with some weak calls). I can't remember the last time a linesman was booed during a face off, but it happened last night......and the 5-3 that gave Colorado momentum, 2 weak penalty calls that had players wondering what would be called next.

I don't think we can completely blame the officials, but it becomes a lot easier when they are as inconstitent as they were last night (or the entire season). I pay good money to see 2 professional teams play, I except professional level offficiating as well!!

Absolutely not! The Flames were actually able to get back into the game because of a horrible call. The trip call on McLean against Phaneuf was ridiculous. Phaneuf is easily one of the strongest players in the league and he pulled a perfect swan dive when Mclean's stick only made contact with his stick. Bad call. There were weak calls both ways, but that stands out as far and away the worst call of the night.

I don't think so. The ref was equally bad for both teams. He called tripping on McLean in the third period that lead to a powerplay goal when it was obviously a dive. Both teams got some breaks. It wasn't good officiating but as long as it's not unfair to just one side it's not going to cost anyone a game normally.

Don't get me wrong, I would have liked for that game to be called better but what are you going to do?

Bad reffing NEVER causes a team the game. If your team really deserves to win, they'll overcome bad officiating. Refs are human. They will make mistakes. Thus, bad officiating is simply a part of the game. Meanwhile, had Calgary killed one more of their penalties, it could have made a difference. If they had scored on one more of their power plays, it could have made a difference. There is much more to the game than the officiating. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but blaming the refs is pathetic.

From what I have seen recently, Yes. Not just with one but several teams. McGeough isn't the only bad one. There are many bad ones. The NHL should do something about this. How many 5 on 3's did they have to kill because of bogus calls. How can a team win when they are wondering when their next penalty is coming and for what reason this time.

The Flames lost because they choked at the wrong time and a convenient excuse is "officiating sucks" the Sharks would do that too when Sutter was their coach

Typically, not scoring more goals than your opponent costs you a game. Getting outshot in the first period at home doesn't help.
