I have reciently been called to the office at work & given a verbal warning to not be talking during work to my other co workers about negative things at work, we all are guilty there of doing this so I accepted that ..no problem 2 days later I had the day off & the girls called me to come in & pick up my birthday present from them, I did & since they were having a smoke break I went to the back of the building where I thought they would be. Turns out they had just went in, so I went in the back door & got the present from them & left. The next day I was called in the office again! This time I was given a written warning & told next is suspension without pay or termination!!! When I read the contents of the reasons why it says that I came to work & didnt enter through the proper door & took up the girls time . They are the ones who asked me n & everyone comes in that door . I feel that they want to get rid of me ! What do you think ? or am I just being paranoid?

Sounds pretty strict. I'd be looking for another job just in case; there is an awful lot of documentation going on there, usually to cover someone they are getting ready to fire.

It sounds to me like they want to get rid of you. the best thing to do would be just try to avoid anything that would get you in trouble. Also if they do fire you should consider a wrongful termination suit...

Also if this went to court, you could get a good lawyer and copy of phone records to prove that they called you. They have no right to tell you what you can and cant talk about with your co-workers..(freedom of speech)

do you have a contract with them?? because if you do they dot want to buy you out of it and the only other way is to show that you were disiplined so many times, therefore showing you are not a good employee and had to be terminated.

If you were not working and the others were you did take up their time when they were being paid to work not socialize. Also I dont think it was so much you used the back door as the fact you were on the premises when you werent supposed to be. Is there a sign in policy for visitors? The company needs to know who is on the property for safety and insurance reasons.

Yes, sounds like your instincts are right on and you are being targeted for a firing.

Once, I was fired ostensibly for asking a man who needed to change a light bulb to wait for 30 seconds while a woman I was training finished typing a sentence.

This sounds like a horrible place to work, so you'll probably be a lot better off rid of them. In the meantime, you should start to document everything from your side - if for no other reason, you may need to prove to the unemployment commission that you were laid off, not fired for cause. Your company may try to prove you were fired for cause, because then their unemployment taxes don't go up.

However, you can make your case and the unemployment folks get to make the determination, not your company.

If you'd like to make it work, go to your boss and say you are anxious to make things work and ask your boss for his/her input on what you need to do.

It sounds like yes, they are trying to get rid of you. Whether it is illegal or not is another question. You can contest the written warning, but dont do it just because its 'unfair'. If you honestly, truly believe what they are saying is a lie, then contest it. If it is true AND it is against company policy, then just behave yourself.

The person giving you these warnings sounds looney to me. I suggest you notify the personnel manager, directly. Ask the question: "Is Mr. Boss going overboard in trying to get rid of me?"
Discrimination issues will get the attention of the HR manager every time.
