The first modern World Series was held between Boston of the American League and Pittsburgh of the National League in 1903. Boston won the series 5 games to 3, helping to establish the new league's credibility. However, the next year, the National League champion New York Giants refused to play the American League champions (Boston again) because of the alleged "inferiority" of the American League, along with the legitimate claim that there were no formal or standard rules for this championship (a factor which had helped kill the 1880s version of the Series). In response, the World Series was instituted in 1905 as a permanent institution, through which the leagues would "meet annually in a series of games for the Professional Base Ball Championship of the World."

It was the Boston Red Sox Vrs. The Pitsburgh Pirates in 1903, in the first ever wrodl series game Boston was slaughtered 7-3, and the best pitcher ever (Cy Young) was on the mound for Boston. The 2nd game Bill Dinneen threw a shutout for Boston, so they won the game 3-0 and the two teams had one game a piece. The 3rd game Pitsburgh won 4-2 and Boston has two errors. Game 4 Pitsburgh won, and Deacon Philips pitched two straight days in a row keeping his 3-0 1909 Playoff record undefated. In game 5 Cy Young won it for Boston giving up olny 2 runs, while Boston rallied in 12 runs.
In the 6th game Boston won, again 6-3 tying up the series. In game 7 Cy Young gave up olny 3 runs while the Boston Redsoxx did their job by batting in 7 runs. The last and most dramatic game of the series to decide who won the World Series was thrown by Bill Deinneen, and he did a gooooood job at it for Boston throwing a shutout and giving up olny 4 hits and Boston won the World Series and coming back from a magor defeat, they took it 5 games to three.
See Ya!
