In about a billion years the increase in thermal energy from the sun will make the planet too hot to support life. Assuming humanity is still on the planet at that time that will destroy the remnants.

In 5-7 billion years calculations predict that the sun will expand into a red giant and the earth will be consumed in it's photosphere. Being consumed by the sun will surely destroy any remnants of humanity living on the planet at that time.

Scientists have worked out the physics of moving the earth to a more thermally favorable orbit by means of repeated slingshot maneuvers with asteroids and comets transiting the inner solar system.

Modifying the orbits of asteroids so that they repeatedly slingshot between earth and jupiter the gravitational attraction of the asteroids can be used to increase the diameter of earths orbit over sever hundred thousand years.

most likely is extinction level events such as a comet or meteor strike or gamma ray burst (radiation blast from collision of distant massive stars or supernovae that would completely blast away the ozone layer). massive volcanos were most likely responsible for 5 of the 6 previous mass extinctions (the 6th being the meteor strike that wiped out the dinosaurs) but the earth has cooled enough for that that level of volcanic event to be unlikely. nothing manmade, not even a full-scale nuclear war (which is next to impossible now) could wipe us out completely. viruses will never be that efficient.

I believe there is a negative form of collective thought in the world that is building to extreme levels of doom, despair and hatred. I believe that if enough people concentrate on the same effect or event that it actually takes place in one form or another.

Like a group prayer, it amplifies and effects change through belief and energy output.

If enough people think about hate and destruction, it builds to a point where it completes its energy and actually takes place.

That is why we need to take care and think positive. We all need to clear our minds of hate and differences before it is too late.

There is a force in this world that is controlled by negative influence and negative thought (it is also spiritual) and that is creating a darkness around us that we all can feel and see. It is brought about by fear, death, despair, depression, hatred, racial and religious reasons. If you feed it, it will grow.

The closer we get to the end or the rebirth of humanity, the stronger this force becomes and effects negative world changes.

It is hard to explain, but you get the idea.

Somehow - our negative influence of thought will be our ultimate undoing.

most likely we will destroy ourselves as we are doing right now. so far all we have done is make mass killing devises and other weapons to kill each other with. humans are violent by nature we want to kill it is an evolutionary advantage. look at the thrill people get by hunting. we burn fossil fuels, Even though we know it is killing us just because it saves a buck. the odds are that we will get in some great war and use biological weapons and release one of the many world ending bacteria we have stock piled in a lab some were, or start a nuclear war and destroy the planet. so i have a word for you our future isn't to bright and get used to it.

C'mon guys. I got stuck in a Jesuit High school and took four years of Latin. Some of the readings we went trhough said the same stuff you guys are saying and it was written by the Romans. Get a life, enjoy it, don't polute or go to extremes with anything and you'll be on your death bed and humanity will still be cranking. It makes me sad to see all the young people who are being fed extreme propoganda and don't think they're going to make it past 30.

Eventually, destruction of our environment, especially our oxygen, will destory us. I am not really big on the whole global warming thing, but I definitely think that humankind needs to start changing their treatment of the environment. Also, things such as cloning and genetic engineering will only serve to hurt mankind. Messing with the genetic makeup of humans could cause serious medical problems that will be irreversible.

I think we are already destroying ourselfs for years weve been depleting the earths ozone layer with all the chemicals, and pollutants., and getting rid of our wet-lands, and turning everything into concrete, unbalancing our mother nature, the grass, and plants, and wet-lands, give us oxygen, and help us, but all of that is going, instead we use chemicals, to process everything, our earth, our food, our water, so I don't know it's gonna be a combination of pollutants, and cancer causing diseases, or we could all burn up to death some day....

A curious topic which could be debated on many levels.

I would assume that "human beings" will be around in some form for millions of years to come.

"Humanity" on the other hand, is a difficult concept on which to label an end condition.

(Evolution, natural selection, etc. on one side of the arguement. Divine intervention,Rapture, and so forth, on some other side of the debate.)

Whether humanity is destroyed by a man made cause or a natural cause. Mankind shall be the source of humanities destruction, either directly through our actions or indirectly through our inaction.
