Unfortunately, Fox and Rush haven't made the playing ground level. Those two are making inroads but most of population still sees their whole world through the eyes of CBS, NBC, and ABC.
If the growth of FOX and conservative talk radio continues at the current pace then maybe in about 15 years the playing field will be level.
The Democrats aren't standing still thou. They are trying to pass the "Fairness Doctrine" Which would censor any thing that doesn't fit the liberal agenda.

Fox New, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest of the right wing media are nothing but reality TV and mouth pieces of the GOP.

I only read newpapers and magazines to receive the news. By the way, television did not really have a serious news presence until the late 50's. And, the "liberal media" has been around since 1857, as you have stated? OMG, um, ok, whatever.

A lot of misinformation floating around out there - we have had liberal media since 1937??? Like in the Fifties when we had loyalty oaths and McCarthy blacklists? And one answerer - says liberals are authoritarian? The one problem with liberals is that they are so bent on consensus they have trouble getting together on a position. My problem with conservatives is their paternalistic top-down fearless leader style.
Attack liberals if you want, but please please, get the story straight. Just sit down and take a breath, okay?

Are you surprised? Liberals have always been fickle hypocrites who ride the fence on many issues only choosing a side after they see which will provide them with more of an advantage. Machiavellian style politics. So there upset that they have competition mostly, as liberals really are not good arbitrators, more inclined toward dictatorship style government where the people at the TOP make all the decisions for us peons.
Since Hearst media has been far left liberal, putting their peculiar slant on the facts so as to construe information to suit themselves. I am reminded of one of my favorite Shakespeare quotes:" I think that thou doth protest too much!" lollol
