i think its a very sad fact that in society men who sleep around are 'players' whereas women r slags.
The even sadder fact is that no matter what its never going to change

Higher apes actually rotate partners, both male and female. There is no patriarchal system. In fact, their class system is more like a ladder. On the alpha rung, you have an alpha male and an alpha female, then a bravo male and bravo female, and so on. A female and a male ape will bond together when protecting the infant they have together. Otherwise, a male who wants the female will kill the current infant in order to replace it with his own.
In lions, the female is abused for associating with another lion that is outside the pride (group). This happens as a rogue lion is in the area. Rogue lions are male lions that have been displaced from their group. This happens when a male lion challenges another male lion for the alpha position. One of the males loses. That male is ostracized and becomes a wanderer. Female lions do not become wanderers, as they are not ostracized from the group. Therefore, female lions who are abused for cohorting with rogues are not abused for "cheating," but for associating outside the group. Male lions and female lions will have multiple partners within the group.
So, yes, the male=player/woman=s!ut thing is a double standard.

It is all relative to which animal you are observing in the wild.
You have noted the mating habits of the apes and the lions. Very good. Now consider the dogs. A female in heat will go around consorting with the various males in the neighborhood. Why? to preserve the strength of the genetics. Too much inbreeding with one consort result in defective litters. Have you seen puppies left to die? Even hamsters do this.
Is it fair? Maybe not. Is it biological? Perhaps. In the past millions of years, all the species has learned to remain strong by making sure that only the healthiest and smartest hunter gatherer male can breed with the females.
Apply that concept to humans. Does it follow the rules? Hardly. The "players" are not generally physically strong, powerful or the very rich and successful in this urban jungle.
"Players" are commonly probably pretty looking and full of themselves. Why are they attuned to believing they are Gods gifts to women? Because superficiality has forever made everyone to believe that good looks are to be the basis of human selection.
What do you think?

Make a choice.
You're the same as everyone else. If you get a label you don't like, then it's your choice when knowing the risks (as is the risks including those of S.T.D.'s too).
With 'animals,' I would assume that the lion or whichever creature, is (obviously without 'knowing the Why's' for it), is trying to maintain a gene pool as animals often shun babies born from other males (as I understand it), and while the mother is carrying 'anothers' baby, it can not be carrying that of the Alpha ~ which puts limits on the size of the Alpha's family.
It seems to be about 'control' as is dictated (somehow) by the 'genetic reasoning'.
You are likely not so limited.
Personally, 'I don't see a man who 'sleeps around' as a 'player' at all.
Sash.

Simply its wrong for both parties and it shouldnt be done, you should stick to one partner and try to maintain that. if it fails then move on but never at the same time.
For women to sleep around is worse than men in terms of the problems of possible future children and the identity of the farther. This sounds pretty rational.

This view exists still because of the remnants of the old culture of seeing women as only fit to marry if they were virgins. It is a double standard and no woman should bother with anyone who thinks that way.
