i am having a baby boy and would love some suggestions on a name that is perhaps new but not ridiculous. I really cant think of any other than Jacob or Bailey. I love Bailey but feel that it isnt a very 'Man-ly" name for when he is older. What do you think are nice names?

If you like the names Jacob and Bailey then why not call him Jacob Bailey, it sounds really good, it has two of your favourite names in it and its ''man-ly'' as you put it lol I love the names you have picked and was really wanting to use Jacob if we have a boy this time round but a friend of mine has just had a boy and, yes, she called him Jacob-thief! lol

Good luck hun and go with the names you like!

A lot of parents struggle to find the "right" name for their baby, because many of the exciting, original names we come up with are some rather popular or mundane.

You could, as other posters suggested, go through your family history and consider names of past relatives which pop out at you; which is great because it also honours your family history.

If you like certain traditional names, you can put a spin on things by modifying the spelling of the word. Sometimes just by changing a few letters, you can come up with something that satisfys your urge for creativity, while maintaining the "safety" of the name, as well.

Using a foreign variation of a name, or a completely foreign name itself, is also a nice idea for a new name. Russian and Polish names often have very similar pronounciations to many English names currently in use.

Finally, if you still can't think of anything to suit your tastes, buy some baby name books! Baby name books are often great resources, and can provide a lot of inspiration - you may find a name (or ten) that you absolutely love, but never would have considered beforehand.

You can also try http:www.babynames.com, or one of the many online baby name listing sites. From personal experience, babynames.com is really good, and it has different lists you can choose from. If you're still stuck on names, just look at the celebrity name listing, and it'll show you what to avoid!!

If you still love Bailey, you could always incorporate it as a middle name and chose something more powerful for the first name.

Hope this helps!

There are so many names out there. What will the baby's last name be? I think Bailey is too feminine. Jacob is nice, but is very old.

What about:

Carmine
Jude
Kaleb
Marlon
Maurice
Joel
Maxwell
Canton
Trenton
Ian
Micah

Congrats on the baby and Good Luck choosing a name!

I drove a school bus and was exposed to the new plague of yuppie boy names such as conner or tanner, blaine etc..

Bailey is the type of name that could be used by a boy or a girl...

the most receint example could be found on the fox tv show party of five... the second oldest boy was named Bailey

Hell a boy could be named sue.. a man is what he makes of himself..it has nothing to do with what he is called..

Bailey is a good name...hope your pregnancy goes well

My friend named her son Bailey Patrick. He is only a year old and she has to make sure to mention his full name when introducing him so that people don't think he's a girl, since it is more popular for girls than boys now-a-days.
My sons name is Jacob Christopher, we call him Jake most of the time or Jakers as a pet name.

Best of luck to you. I think that if you like Jacob and Bailey the best, then go wiht that. Dont let anyone talk you out of a name that you truely like. Best of luck!
