Personally I don't believe that! Except that if you think well enough you will realise that many good things in life are free, pleasant things like smelling a flower, kissing someone, admiring nature, giving a smile and other small things that make a great day!! The best things in life may not be free but a big part of the good things in life are free...

Just because someone writes a song that says Love hurts doesn`t make it fact. It is a good sign that you put a question mark there, or was it bait and switch?
IMO the best thing to come into my life was an answer. Sometimes it is called the unasked question, but that is a total contradiction. If it exists on ANY level, it automatically is asked and the answer is automatically given in that moment. Then it is only a matter of eliminating all resistance (like turning on the light switch) and immediately the light dawns, the answer is given. Better than that, there exists a part of you which knows all the answers and if you are the slightest bit connected with that higher part of you, the answer will feel like a memory and you will recognize it. Now, what the heck was that question? lol Just can`t seem to remember it now!

Much of nature is 'free', air, sun, flora and fauna etc and we can enjoy that. If we think of things not being free, the word 'pay' comes to mind which is unfortunate. Relationships take effort, I'd say we should 'give freely' rather than 'pay' when building friendships of any type. We give time, consideration, a listening ear, support etc. etc. People have given their lives for others. Many are 'free' because of this. Parents give freely of their love, time etc. for their family. Unfortunately sometimes parents expect 'payment' for their giving. Unfortunately we sometimes expect 'payment or returns' for what we have given. How often does that phrase 'after all I've done for you......' raise its voice. That sours the situation. If we freely give then sometimes we will be 'used' or very much hurt but we learn from it hopefully and to live a life giving freely is better than being suspicious and self protective.

Well we live in a very commercial world , however things have not brought us happiness . Previous generations did not have as many things or things to strive for . So perhaps a lot more interest was taken in human interaction and love of nature art etc
I cannot go on about all the sources of the Best THINGS IN LIFE , BUT TO BE OVERWHELMED BY THE BEAUTY OF NATURE A TRANSFORMING THOUGHT , BEAUTIFUL POETRY ETC ADD TO THAT THE GIFT OF HEALTH DO NT WE ALL TAKE IT FOR GRANTED AND YET if YOU ARE RICH YOU CANNOT BUY COMPLETE GOOD HEALTH THE TABLETS OR WHATEVER TO HELP YOU HEAL, BUT TH ATS NOT GOOD HEALTH IS IT
also REMEMBER WEALTH CAN BE TAKEN AWAY IN A TWINKLING OF AN EYE AS stock MASKED PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED LATELY AND THERE COULD BE WORSE TO COME AFTER THE BIRD FLU . health again ?

Actually I think that generally for most of us we get what we commit ourselves to, what we really believe in. If you believe the best things in life are free, like beautiful days or playing with children, then that's what you get. If you think love hurts, that's what it does. If you think you learn and grow through your relationships you get your education for free. If you believe you have to pay for something to make it worth while having then that's true too. I think we need to examine our personal and shared believe systems before we can answer your question!

I agree with Michael; everything is a payment even if you don't really take notice. It's not exactly a bad one either, think of all the good things you're able to experience when you take notice of all the beautiful and tranquil things that come to you, giving you more feelings of hope, strength, more lessons to overcome and be aware of from this new feeling of fulfillment and Spirituality! Its so hard to just live a boring, Mundane life without the simple pleasures and blessings that are just right there in front of your eyes if you will just open your eyes and see, Child; All that the world can truly offer!Even if I'm feeling bad, depressed, lonely, tipsy, anxious, whatever; just a little look at something that I normally don't notice( maybe its nature,a song, something on tv, or just an animal, or a figure of some kind; the trick is I have opened the wide doors to my very soul, subconscious,my intuition and it carries me far! They support me and I support them! It is really God and his angels talking to me but its kinda confusing where the message come from but its them!!!!!!!) brings me to Cloud Nine and then I will get happy instantly, bringing me to a point where I will answer my own questions that I have been contemplating, leading to a whole new enrichment on life, opening more doors to my Soul and Spirituality!

LIFE was given to you for free! Enjoy every minute of it and don'nt forget something important: Sharing the pleasure of your loved ones when they see you after a long time is free, not being judgemental is free, being polite is free, thinking is free, enjoying a sunshinny day at the country is free........
You can think of others, cann't you now?Giving your heart and soul to somebody you love is free, without thinking about tommorow.Isn't that, and many more, the essance of living?

Some enlightened people know that it is the absolute truth.
Thevery best things simply cannot be bought at any price.
Of course money can buy a lot of nice things, it can make you comfortable in your misery.
Money can buy pleasure but not happiness.
Happiness is free (at least in monetary terms)
A lot of people confuse pleasure and happiness.
Some people think that if they can buy enough pleasure it will make them happy.
Happiness is not a stable state that once achieved remains eternally.
Gather your happiness freshly everyday. Give happiness to others and watch it return to you 10 times

I personally do not think that the best things in life are "free", which means the same like asking no effort, no prize, no pain.
I found that the really good things in life like love, looking after a child, developing a skill come always to a often very high prize. Nevertheless they are pretty much worth the prize and the effort.

the best things in life are free because they're free...if we had to pay for them we wouldn't necessary class them as the best things in life. Haven't you noticed when people get free samples for food they get all happy like they've never eaten, whereas when they buy food at the supermarket they don't exactly give the same look.
