I don't think he's overrated. I think Lampard and Gerrard are especially when wearing the England shirt.
People are saying that he can't dribble and run at players but it was never part of his game and he didn't need to. He was able to bend the ball around a player who was attempting to block his cross and still find a man.
I'd rather have Beckham than Lennon in the side because Lennon needs to run past defenders to find space to cross and he's delivery isn't good either. Beckham doesn't need to run past his man, because his vision and delivery gets the job done.

I love Beckham, he is a class player and gets so much stick! He can put a ball the ball on a 6pence, I hate Maclaren he just wanted to make a statement so we'd all disassociate him from Sven so he dropped Beckham, big mistake but he'll never go back on it. Oh well I'm sure the million a week will make up for it!

Its split down the middle when it comes to opinions on Beckham. Sure he's lost a little pace but that has never been what his game was about. ..........Its delivery.
When you've got Peter Crouch up front for England who could you want more than Beckham teeing him up.
Another credit to Beckham (take not Mr Scholes) At least he wants to play for his country and publicly states he always will. Scholes is too scared of competeing with Gerrard, Hargreaves & Lampard. And I guarantee nobody will give as much than him in terms of effort when playing for England.

Very much the most over-rated player of the past few years. Can't dribble, can't run at players, can't head, at Madrid (where my buddy is a season ticket holder) they call him Forrest Gump cause he only runs in straight lines, the only offer he had to carry on is playing third rate footy in the USA.
Need I say more ?
Best player in English history - spoken as a true 'soccer' fan, sorry buddy but what do Americans know about great forotballers ? No offense to Americans, but your football is third rate

Donkey - all he had was a pretty face and dead ball kicks. He all done now though - can't get a regular place in an under-performing Madrid squad.
Let him join the ranks of nobodys and has-beens in the US to play Conference style footy

Best player in English history, and I'm an American...He's not over the hill yet...Hell, he shouldn't have been abandoned by English Soccer just because of Victoria if nothing else...I always thought she was the hottest Spice Girl...

Should be re-considered as Englands captain and brought back into the fold, because John Terry couldn't lead a fat person to a chocolate factory.

in my opinion he is one of the most over rated players in the history of the game! All he can do is take relatively good free kicks, and cross the ball. and nobody else can?

Best free kick specialist ever
Best crosser of the ball in his era
An ordinary bloke who has a particular talent and got lucky
Never claimed to be anything he wasn't
Responds to adversity with courage and determination
Has made the most of his chances
Doesn't desrve the stick he gets - but it goes with the territory and you wouldn't knock it if you had the chance to swap
Is easily still one of the top 24 English players and so deserves to still be in the squad
Has been made a scapegoat twice by England "fans" who forget just what he's done for English football
Is honest
Is filthy rich
If I was in his shoes, I'd sod of to LA, too and make a small fortune in the sunshine.
Having never met the bloke, I wouldn't presume to comment on his character any further. What he does with his life choices are of little more consequence to me than mine are to him
