A couple of months ago, I had a light period that lasted less than my normal time and came late (no chance of pregnancy). A few weeks ago, I started my period. It lasted for 2 days, and then it stopped. I thought it was over with, but after a couple of days it was back. This went on for the first week. Last Tuesday, huge blood clots started coming out of me. I panicked, but I assumed that perhaps this was just some sort of blockage coming out. This lasted a couple of days, and then I thought I was off again last Thursday.

On Friday night I started bleeding really fast, and by Saturday the clots started coming back but the blood flow slowed down. Tampons (Super Plus) last for maybe 2-3 hours. I haven't had it stop again since Thursday. The flow is heavy. I haven't been on birth control in years, and there's no chance of pregnancy (I do have a 4-year old). I don't have medical insurance, and the local low-cost clinic can't see me until May. I'm so tired, and my legs hurt. Help please.

What you are describing is called breakthrough bleeding. It is bleeding that can occur at other times during the month (in this case beyond the period, normal period lasts from 3-7 days). When this occurs it can act a lot like a menstrual period causing cramping, clots, and so forth.

This could be a cervical infection causing this (anyone can get a cervical infection). This needs to be evaluated by your dr, sooner than May.

Pls call the clinic in the a.m. to let them know that you have had this bleeding for 3 weeks now and can't wait til May to be seen by the dr. If they still can't take you try a walk-in or urgent care clinic, or a Medical School if there is one close to you.

In the mean time trying up the levels of iron by eating things like spinach, raisins, peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course) to see if that helps ease some of the flow and any cramping that you may have, but pls call the clinic to let them know that you can't wait til May because of this bleeding.

Now I'm from the UK, and we don't have situations where people need treatment, but don't have insurance. Everyone is entitled to health care, but for this kind of bleeding I would be tempted to see if you can get in to the Low-Cost clinic as an emergency, or maybe even go to the ER?

With this kind of blood-loss you're at risk of quite quickly becoming anaemic, so you need to get a good vitamin and iron supplement from the chemist. Speak to them about which one would be best for you.

With the blood-loss you might also become a bit dehydrated, so drink plenty of water, and increase the amount of vegetables and fruit you eat. Cut down on sugars and fats, as they won't help your feelings of lethargy (tiredness).

I hope you can get some help soon, as this kind of blood-loss is not normal or good. It can be a sign of all kinds of things like fibroids, polyps, endocrine (hormone) imbalances, and lots of other possible causes (not usually endometriosis, as this is when the lining of the womb grows outside of the womb, like on internal organs etc, and it usually just causes lots of pain, plus heavier bleeding, not longer bleeding).

I just wish I could afford to fly you over here, you'd get seen for free in an instant.

You need to go to your doctor and request a referral to a endocrinologist (hormone specialist). It sounds like you have hormonal imbalance. Mine did what yours are doing and I have now been diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovaries Syndrome. Get checked out. Also ask for blood works on all hormones at both mid and end of cycle and request an internal ultrasound to make sure you don't have endremitriosis (spell ??). With these test it can tell you alot and rule out other serious problems.

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!

holy cr*p sweety. I sounds like a bad case of endometriosis. Try to take something calming, like camomile tea and go to your dr/gynie or go to the emergency room (so you don't end up anaemic) tomorrow. there are lots of treatments for this so don't hesitate to seek help. best of luck.
