The very idea is offensive. It is just very sad that so many English people have lost their sense of pride, national identity and all spiritual values.
It is this spiritual vacuum that is allowing Islam to breed.

This question has been posted once today already, and is posted on average 3 or 4 times a day. If you're actually interested in people's opinions, rather than stirring up racial and religious hatred, you can just search for those.
The proposed mosque will receive no public money at all, be it taxpayers' or lottery, is not associated with the olympics, and planning permission is not decided by Tony Blair, Number 10, or Ken Livingstone, and it won't be Britain's biggest landmark, or visible from space - just to stop the usual kneejerk responses which are posted every single time.

This has been asked already. and I will answer again. As long as this or any other religious building is not being paid by the taxpayer then so what? There are churches in Muslim countries and there are a wide array of places of worship in this country for many different beliefs and faiths.
Are you saying that the UK should have only Churches then? If so then that is a very narrow view that you have.

I only noticed this because I was unimpressed by the manipulative and emotive language in the Evening Standard article that the vote refers to. The writer is a Mira Bar-Hillel. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that this is an extremely "Israeli" sounding name. So we have an article which is manipulative against Islam and a person with an Israeli name, behind this vote.
Sounds a bit racist to me!
There are too many mugs in this country only to willing to believe everything that they read.

Are they going to spend the same amount of money on other religions?
Seems amazing that Muslims represent less than 3% of the UK http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=293 but seem to have the loudest voices and people bending over backwards for them.
There are far better ways this money could be spent - NHS, the elderly, grants to the needy, charity even the 2012 Olympics.

Yes, I am aware of this, and have signed the petition on the Government website. There are also many petitions online for those who object to this. No planning permission has been granted yet..............as far as I am aware. The deadline for planning permission has passed, because of problems with local buildings being "in the way" of this developement, but new plans are expected to be submitted.

Since IT ISN'T TAXPAYER'S MONEY I don't see why we should care. If the Muslim community want to spend this sort of money on a building, they can go ahead.
It's a bit of a shame they don't want to spend it on more deserving causes, like alleviating poverty or disease, but in the end it's up to them.

This question was asked the other day, and judging by the answers it received, it doesn't matter what my feelings are, as the fuc*ing thing will be burned to the ground anyway.
