let them do their own dirty work

the person who broke vows - and did it in such a sloppy way that it was thrust into their offspring's life, forcing on them a horrible, no-win choice - is responsible.

I would tell the one caught: "I will wait a week so you can work it out yourself. But if you haven't talked to the other parent by then, then I will."

I think this is the fairest, least of evils, any other course would be a betrayal of one or the other or both.

However badly I wanted the other one to know, I wouldn't tell. I've been there a couple of times when one spouse learned of the other's infidelity and I saw their faces as that first hurt showed up there. I couldn't be the bringer of that. Let someone else do it.

reminds me of a story.

there was a mayor of the town I was born in, married his wife coz her daddy was rich and had given her a hotel. one day he walked into the kitchen of the hotel to find his wife bangin' the cook - but she didn't notice him. so he calmly walked out and told his two daughters (7 and 8 years old) to "go into the kitchen and see what your mother is doing".

after the hullaballoo had died down, he calmly told his wife that if she ever wanted to see her kids again, he got the hotel in the divorce.

Depends on how they raised you. If they taught you that cheating is wrong, then I would tell the other parent.
