Everywhere I go I see cell phones. Drivers tool down the road, cutting their turns while they are blabbing away on their cell phones. People yakkin' in the produce aisle of Wal-Mart and Blue-Tooth headsets everywhere.
I have a cell phone but I usually just leave it in my car and I rarely talk on it while I'm driving. For one thing, I drive a five-speed stick (it's a guy thing) and it's hard to shift gears and rachet-jaw on the phone at the same time.
Are you one of the people I see everywhere, cell phone glued to your ear and yak-yakkin away?
Admit it if you are. It may not be too late to find you a support group.

I know what your talking about. I work in retail, and have for many years. The most annoying thing is when some one is blah blah blahing about nonsense on their phone and not paying attention to what is going on. If someone was on their phone when I was waiting on them I used to do one of two things, depending on my mood. I would ignore them until they hung up, even if I was in the middle of helping them, or, I would go up to them when they we in the middle of a sentence,(I would time it), and yell "Can I help you with anything else?!" as loud as I could. >:) The last one was the most fun. They would get confused or startled.
If I HAVE to take a call in the car while driving I use an ear bud. But I rarely do it. Only when its something that cant wait.
On the rare occasion I take it in the bathroom Its only at home, and Im talking to someone that Im related to or a close friend.

No, my phone is not attached to my ear or personage. I think cell phones primary purpose is for use in emergencies. In general I am not a phone person -- cell or land line. My father and sister, on the other hand, are addicted to phones.

I hate when I am in a bathroom and I hear someone's conversation in the next stall. I especially hate Nextels when people use the walkie talkie function. I don't care to hear the other person either and the sound quality is horrible.

Are people afraid of silence? Can they not just drive or drive and think? Do they need to be in constant conversation? Don't people want to be unavailable at times?

Also, I am not convinced that years from now studies will link definitively cell phone usage with an increase rate of cancer.

lol... funny you ask that!! When I was seeing my last boyfriend, yes... I took it with me even to the bathroom!! I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss one phone call from him. Now days, it's nothing strange for me to leave my cell phone. I'm not waiting on a phone call from that special someone. If I was seeing someone now, I'm sure I'd go back to doing that, that is if I felt the same about them as I did my last man. For now though, the world is safe!!!

I don't have one. I hardly ever use the land phone, either. Mine was down for over a week recently and I didn't even know.
