Maybe the word "overrated" isn't correct, but he seems to be given more credit than I think think he deserves. For a guy with dozens of commericals and endorsements, his skills seem to be good, but not great. I guess I'm trying to say that I don't understand why some people actually say he's the best in the NBA when he has such a limited offensive array(freethrows dunks, lay-ups), pretty mediocore defense, and won 1 title against a Mavs team that choked. I don't mean to offend anyone, but aren't Kobe, LeBron, Nash, and even Duncan better players?

i think you're right! overated may be a bit too harsh but he's the media's poster boy. The NBA is desperately trying to find a face for the league but it can't seem to make up it;s mind from lebron or wade. He is a GREAT player but the best? No he's not. Nash, Kobe, and Duncan are definately much better. I put Lebron in with wade on this one.

well, yeah maybe he is a little bit overrated. but i think he is because the players who are expected to "show off" doesn't "show off". you know, last year, Bron did bring his Cavs to the 2nd round, but got beaten by Detroit. You may say that Wade has Shaq, but i think he is still a big part of the team's success. i think, the Heat was inspired by him, rather than Shaq. and Melo, who is as good as Wade is, is not just "so good" off the court. see, he was suspected of carrying illegal drugs before. and had a brawl with the Knicks. Kobe had some issues too on the rape thing. Nash, well, he may be good, but no matter how good you are, you can't reach the peak of your success until you have the ring, which WAde already has. Duncan, he's just not so charismatic as all other players are.
hey, make no mistake, i'm not a Wade fan. as a matter of fact, i was one of those who were cursing Wade throughout the entire Finals. I'm a very big Mavs fan, ya know. just voicing out my views.
by the way, one thing i reaaly hate about Wade, was when he said that Dirk has no leadership skills. duh?gotta hate him for that.

why in the world does everybody post that Lebron is so great when he disappears come playoff time...Kobe is very good and Duncan is definitely a high quality performer but DWade led a team of nobodys to push detroit 6 games in the playoffs the year they blew out the lakers in the finals...and was in large part the reason they won last year...he gets a lot of dunks and layups because he can split the double team, and is a very good weak side help defender, and has mentioned that he wants to be a better on ball defender...duncan while fundamendally sound is not a flashy player...therefore not good commercial material...some people are still mad with kobes deal in the rape case so his commercial value is still not what it was or should be...so Lebron has his nike and sprite spots, plays well but hasnt led his team to anything great...he should have the ball in his hands when the big playoff games and series are on the line and hasnt made any big noise yet...and Nash while two time MVP and key part of Phoenix's success hasnt taken a team to the promised land...D Wade has big upside, especially since hes young (he Melo and Bron have been in the league for 3 years now) and can still improve...so he has a few nice commercial spots, and a ring...none of the others can say they got theirs that early in their career (as well as a finals MVP) and just for the record...Im not a big Wade fan...

well i agree with you....overrated is not the word but i see what you mean....wade gets so much media attention because:
> of his style of play....i mean the highflying dunks, amazing layups and unbelievable circus shots that still goes in even when fouled....i mean that's what most fans paid to see....
> he has a good image because he has never been involved in brawls before(unlike melo), never had off-court issues(unlike kobe) and is one of the rare black players that does not have a tattoo(unlike iverson who has lots of them)....but despite that, he still owns this tough baller image that fits to be the face of the nba....
> his recent success....he has been breaking playoff records, has been the finals mvp and won the big one in such a young age....
i agree that kobe, lebron, nash and duncan are better players but wade does belong in the same sentence as these guys as well....

Yes he's overrated. We are overlooking one 7'1" 335 lb factor. Shaquille O'Neal. Wade was a GOOD player, but he journeyed into the NBA's elite when the Diesel came to South Florida. Wade is often compared to Kobe, but the reality is, they both are better players with O'Neal. For those who are keeping score at home:
Titles with Shaq:
Kobe - 3
Wade - 1
Titles without Shaq:
Kobe - 0
Wade - 0

IMO, that "some people" you mention never seen MJ played or maybe they just start watching NBA when Wade decimate the Mavs.
But really, Wade belongs with the same breath as Kobe, T-Mac, LeBron etc.

Yes, I think he's kinda overrated. While he's got amazing offensive skills and superb athletic ability, he's still far from being a complete player because, as you've pointed out, he's not a good defender in the mold of the guy who's always compared with him - MJ. Most of all, he's error prone and commits lots of turnovers every night.
