Sometimes. I think a variety of interests needs to be in our lives. Some of the things we, or kids for that matter, watch on TV can be very informative. But reading a book allows for the imagination to be exercised, too.

Oh Yes! I have learned a lot from TV. I am dyslexic and therefore find it hard to learn from books unless i work very hard. However I did my 1st degree with the Open University which uses the TV and radio as a teaching medium. Brillient...

depends which ones!
science, history, documentaires, movies, trivia, discovery.. others.. there is much to be learned. But there is also a lot of useless drunk. There are more engaging ways to learn anyway.

yes, one can learn that American television, even PBS, is not to be taken seriously because television simply exists for people to make lots of money.
Television is a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously.
