Should the flames get 4 points from their remaining 3 games, they will reach the 100 point mark, and all 8 teams representing the western conference in the playoffs will have 100 points or more. Has this happened before??

Im not gonna do the research. But based on the following factors I would bet not, if you only consider times where there have been 8 teams making the playoffs from each conference:
1) In the west teams 1-9 have dominated over the other teams(10-15). So there is a huge gap between them, meaning a lot more points have gone to teams 1-9 than previous years.
2) The 82 game season has not been around since the beginning of the NHL, (less chance of this happening).
3) There is no team with an exorbitant amount of points at the top. (like the Red Wings last year), thus these points were spread down the line.
4) Most importantly, the way the new system is set up, there are no ties, so all those games that ended in ties in previous years now count for one extra point to the shootout winner. And the overtime loss point has only been around for a few years, so that also adds another point which leads to this point inflation.
Personal Comment: If it does occur, i dont think it should be a record since the way points are earned is systematically different and naturally leads to higher point totals.

No, it has not happened, but it is not really that big a deal. The system is set up now so that more points are attainable because there are no ties, and you still get a point for overtime and shootout losses. Ultimately the 100 point mark is now meaningless.

Better question is, has any team with 90+ points ever missed the playoffs. It will happen this year. More hangovers from the moronic Bettman years.
