i just asked my mom this question a couple hours back. i see my son attempting to crawl (he actually look more like an earthworm inching his way...) but he'll fold like a chair if i try to let him sit on his own. my mom said it's normal for babies to want to crawl before sitting. apparently that's what i did when i was a baby.

Some people thing so, but I have done daycare for 19 years and believe me children do what they want when they want. lol Its totally fine if they crawl first, this will encourage them to roll around into a sitting position, and not fall over. some babies will even learn to walk before they even learn to crawl, its just up to the baby.

Lindy, "normal" is a lot different than the baby books say. Your child will do what he/she is interested in. Some babies never crawl, my daughter didn't!! She just pulled herself up and took off walking at 8months old. Some babies are so anxious to get somewhere that they begin to crawl while skipping a step. It is OK. Don't worry if your baby refuses to stay on the schedule in your baby book.

No two babies are the same My first crawled, sat, then walked. My second never crawled at all and my third sat, crawled then walked. Its all about what they feel comfy with and what they want to do.

I've NEVER met a baby- that followed a "script". Each one does things in the "order" that THEY feel like- & to HECK with what the Baby Books say! Heave the advice- & enjoy your baby. -They don't stay that "way" for very long... :)
