They have their own jeans. Or, are they expressing their desire to be a guy (at least in their mind ). They know guys have more fun.

Alot of females like to wear "guy" clothes. It can be a "security" thing, or a "Tom Boy" thing, or a "fashion statement"... -Or maybe they just think that THEY look better in guys jeans- than guys do! (And they COULD be right!) :)

The "adrogynous" or tom-boy look is very in now. Throwing together guy jeans with other pieces from your wardrobe can personalise your style, and plus, they can be pretty comfortable.
Other "guy" items like bulky guy shoes worn with a delicate black mini dress, fedora felt hats, and guy shirts made into dresses are all very haute couture.
I don't think it has anything to do with gender issues, more so a desire to experiment with fashion. Mixing it up a bit ;)

Occasionally in the summer I'll wear my husbands cargo shorts, he can fit into them, they're still baggy on me but they're really cute and look awesome with my combat boots.
I am somewhat of a tomboy, but no I'm not trying to change my gender when I wear them. I wear them for comfort. I can't wear most womens shorts because there's no room for my butt in them. I'm a size 4 but gifted in my posterior and most, if not all shorts made for women, and especially in a size 4 fit someone with no butt at all. And I wear them because I like them, they're olive and military style, which I like.
I grew up with two older brothers, no sisters, and yes we always had fun. Guys never b*tched about someone not liking them or any of that crap, so of course they're going to have more fun because they're not petty like most girls are.
And I started doing this before it was a fad, as it seems it is now because that's what a couple of people have said on here.

I have never really noticed girls wearing guy jeans. It's most definitely the other way around. Every other boy now wears tight, girl jeans rubbing it in our faces, how much skinnier they are than us. Anyway, unless they are blessed with a nice backside, I think it is total turn off, and sick of all emo in style crap, it needs to go. one more thing, going commando is sick, boys wear underwear with those pants, I don't care if the pants are so tight they show lines.
