To all the lower answers, no no and no. I tried doing all that... and yes ubuntu should work on it.
Though, the boot up BIOS disk or whatever caught my eye, because the computer doesn't say anything about pressing Delete or something... it just says 45821 something KB and then goes Windows 98...
Is there any place or location where I could download the disk or at the least tell me how to create it? Does it have something to do with a startup disk? I checked everywhere, Experts-Exchange and many other places...

Gah a Compaq...

BIOS isn't OS specific it's motherboard manufactuer specific, check out Compaq's site for the keystroke required to get in, it's been a long time but I think it was F10 or CTRL+F10 or something.

It helps greatly if you still have the CDP (Compaq Diagnostic Partition) on that system as it will enable you to do more once you're in. Good luck.

first windows does not have a bios ...... the computer as the bios,, when you boot up the computer look at the screen to see what key you press to get into the setting (bios) set the bios to English, you may have to download the bios updates from Compac website. you may be able to download the manual for the computer also....

for setting up the keyboard in win 98,, go to keyboard setup set that for english to, use windows help to do that
you may also need the win 98 cd for the english keyboard drivers

check with Ubuntu on what systems it will go on meaning hard drive space 1.3 gig is not a lot of space I am about to install Ubuntu 10 on one of my systems. I am running Suse 10.2 at the moment.....

You will probably not be able to load it, your drive and memory are too low. If you want to try the bios is normally reached by continuously pressing del or F2 or F11 or F12, although some very early compaqs needed a boot floppy to access it.

You need at least 128MB of ram & 600mb of free disk space to run any current (supported) version of Ubuntu.
I recommend you try Damn Small Linux (DSL) for the system specs you've listed.
