how can i get Service pack 2.. i have the Windows XP CD is it in there? if so, what do i do to get the service pack2 .. how do i install it. plz step by step explain it to me :) thanks!

If you have an XP disc from at least 2 or 3 years ago, you'll already have service pack 2. But since it sounds like you don't, it's a free download at microsoft.com.

Hi there.
You can either order it off the M$ site or download it directly. It won't be available on the CD if it's not prepackaged with it or is labeled directly on the CD (eg. Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 SP2). If it does have it, then it's automatically installed during the XP installation.

You'll probably need to download a small ActiveX plugin which will validate your Windows XP installation to make sure it's legal and valid before you can download the SP2.
Once it's downloaded, double click on it and it will guide you step by step in what to do.

It should say on the CD including SP2 if not then go to ms website look for updates click on updates and it will start to update could take hours...it takes an hour to install SP2 after you download it

go to microsoft.com and click downloads and query for sp2 for xp. its a big file so plan on spending some time to down load it.
