Forward or backward only the talent should be given priority. But as far as the most backwards are concerned, instead of giving reservations for them, govt can do some thing to improve their life status which will automatically make them compete. But as you told, the poverty is not only in India and particularly for the forward but also it is every where in the global. We can not solve this problem but we can find solutions.

The whole world knows all this only Indians are taking time to discover that Indians are among the poorest in the World. Even the rich Indians in the World are not Indian citizens. Even the rich Indian citizens are poorer than the rich foreign citizens of rich countries. Indian has so low incomes that the best of their students flock to foreign countries to educated on the basis of financial aid given by foreigners. In India, there is hardly much population of forward income class; almost all the Indians are in backward economic class. It cannot be otherwise because Indians are all dependent on what their govt. do for them. Most of them cannot or are not willing or are not being allowed to depend on their own capabilities to earn livelihood with honesty and diligence.

Well at the rate that corporate America is outsourcing so many American jobs to India, they ought to be doing pretty well pretty soon! It's crazy! Everything from answering services to computer tech support. They try to hide their Indian accent behind a British accent, but you can still tell. I won't be calling Dell tech support any more, cuz that guy in India didn't have a clue! My husband finally figured out how to fix my problem, and told the tech, who couldn't figure out what he was saying. Well, best of luck to the Indians. Maybe they should try casinos.

In our country,in any caste only the creamy layer is enjoying all the fruits. The politicians form a good part of the creamy layer. They would never want to part with such reservations. The politicians are emboldened by the attitude of our people.
100 % literacy and subsequent introspection alone will bring all the evils to subside if not end.
