It is EXTREMELY rare for someone to not wake up from anesthesia. Really. I do it every day, and everybody wakes up. (But not during the operation - at the end, when it's over)
People who "don't wake up" are generally trauma victims, heart surgery patients, or people who are really, really sick before they go under.
You can have sedation before you go into the OR - just ask for it. You may need to sign papers first, and get your i.v. started, but if you request sedation, you'll get some, and that will help a lot. You probably won't even remember being wheeled into the OR.
Everything will be fine. Your procedure is routine, and your anesthetic will be, too.
We do this every day.

Are you a teenager?
Generally speaking,a teenager is more proned to think that they may not wake up from being put to sleep.
I have worked in the OR for years and helped do surgery on all age groups and I haven't ever seen a patient not wake up.
Even IF there were a chance of that, the person giving the anesthesia knows what medicines to give to reverse the anesthesia. . .which is what is done when they wake you out or your surgery sleep.
I promise. . . .You'll be OK. And if you aren't,you won't know it. . . .Ha Ha Ha Ha
Lighten up,we are out of the stone age.

It's very rare for someone to not wake up from anesthesia. It is however very common to be nervous about surgery. Because of the fact that you are so nervous about this surgery pls get in touch with your dr to see about something to help you calm down and stay relaxed.
I wish you well with your surgery.

No, it is not a common thing. I can almost guarantee that a healthy person undergoing a cholecysectomy (which is usually a laparoscopic procedure) will wake up. I've worked in a surgical unit for a few years. You'll be fine

Extremely unlikely. There are always risks involved with any surgery. Be sure to list ALL medications, allergies and if you have a heart murmer.
