Like I already know but I want to know what everyone else thinks. Say whatever you think it is I don't give a care. It can be someone who is gay, someone who is incredibly dumb, a glass plate, whatever you can think of!

I usualy go by the oficial definition. The Urban Dictionary defines "dude" as:
A word that americans use to address each other. Particularly stoners, surfers and skaters.
"dude, i'm like......dude"
1) The Universal Prounoun
2) Adj - expression of emphasis, amazement, or awe
1) What's up Dude?
2) Duuude!
1) n. a name for anyone (stereotypically used by male surfters/skaters but now accepted by any race, sex, religion, and wealth)
2) n. something that's just so awesomly cool, amazingly kick *ss
3) ?. a way to start a conversation
4) replacing "um" or "like" in any sentence
1) Dude, that guy is soo sexy!
2) Omg! That teacher was so stoned, me and Hil were both like "Duuuude."
3) Dude you have no idea!
4) And then...dude...dude...dude , sh*t I forgot.

To be technical the word dude was first used in 1870's the word was used to call city people that were dressed up fancy and going on vaction to the west. I don't know why this word was used for this but it's true. But now a days the word dude is used in many ways, someone you call a friend or even just another person, ex. hey dude, or look at that dude.

A dude doesn't have to be a He
A dude is someone who is not a friend but not an enemy.
He's not gay or straight; its his own damn business.
He has a down-to-earth way of expressing himself
And a dude always has a dumb smile when they screw up

I used to think it was a young male. A woman I know calls everyone "Dude," regardless of age or gender, so I decided it had lost meaning if it had one.
