My home page is set to Yahoo, but whenever I open Explorer, it sends me to http://asafetylist.com/ which is supposed to be some type of Virus cleaner. Seems a little odd to me. How do I fix it so I'm not taken to this stupid Web site? Any help will be appreciated.

open explorer. click tools-->internet options-->

top sections says Homepage. change it accordingly.select Apply and Ok. close explorer and try again. If it doesn't fix then you do have a virus, or malware that is changing the homepage.

Download this http://www.merijn.org/files/HiJackThis_v2.exe

and run it. Reply to me with the results.

First disconnect from the internet. This will prevent any thing coming through or going out. Restart in safe mode (with networking if you need internet). You have spyware so use your anti spyware to scan and clean else download spybot search and destroy and ad aware personal (yes both) and run them. If the problem persists, go to an online scanner like trendmicro or norton and scan and find exactly what is wrong and buy webroot spy sweeper and clean.

The problem you have specifically is known a homepage hijacking and is common for spyware. Get spyware blaster(free) to prevent this and it's good to schedule your anti-virus or spyware to scan every day at maybe 2AM, so it won't interfere with your work

DO NOT listen to lil swee… you have a real problem that needs fixing and do not fall for the virus cleaner crap. It is really a trojan horse!!!!

It is a spyware that has hijacked your homepage. Click start, then settings, then control panel, and choose "Internet Options". In the first page which is label "General" you can set your home page, rename it to yahoo and your done. If settings is not in your start menu then you can access it from your My computer icon. If you dont already have a spyware program then you should get one. Not all anti-virus programs check for spywares. Ad-aware and spybot are a few good spyware programs for starters but I am sure there are better ones, its been awhile so I dont know which one though (check yahoo questions). Goodluck. asafetylist.com is highly dangerous hacker application. Usually asafetylist.com may log keyboard activity of
the user and take snapshots of the system. asafetylist.com uses stealth installation and its removal is very difficult.

http://asafetylist.com Symptoms:-

User's homepage is changed to onlinestability.com or to other unfamiliar websites. Warning messages such as "Virus Alert", "Your Computer is Infected", "Security Alert" Trojan-Spy.win32@mx or Spyware.Cyberlog-X infections are displayed.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

It does sound as though your pc has been hijacked. A very good, and free, online scan can be found at the below link....just have Trend Micro scan your pc for quite a number of different problems. Hope this helps.

In addition to trying to scan the machine etc (you have had some good answers) go to tools/internet options/security. Click restricted sites and add asafetylist.com. This should stop any contact with their site while you sort it out.

You might try putting your computer in the SAFE MODE and running your virus/spyware protection....when restarting your computer tap the F8 key repeatedly and that will put it in the safe mode...Additionally, you might call your virus/spyware company and get help thru their tech support...I have found them to be very helpfull..(try them first)
