Liquid Zantac (ranitidine) can be mixed with any substance he enjoys. I would try to limit the amount of liquid to an amount you know he'll be able to take in as short a time period as possible to insure that he takes the entire amount prescribed. It doesn't matter about the acidity of the liquid or juice - Zantac is NOT an antacid, so its effects would not be affected.

My daughter was given the liquid zantac at a month old and we were told to put it in the breast milk/formula bottle. I didn't keep her on it. I thought it was too harsh on her little stomach as I can clearly remember how a couple drops on my skin actually stung me. Was your son colic? If so that's the number 1 reason doctors prescribe zantac. Change the formula you'll notice a huge difference. Good Luck... Mom of a 5 month old

My 3 week old grandson is also on liquid zantac, I tried putting it in a nipple and he then stopped taking his bottles until I got a differant type nipple. It is a slow process, I just give him a few drops at a time until he gets it down. I'm afraid if I mix it in his formula he'll stop taking it.

My son has acid reflux and we use a siringe to give him the medicine. I used to mix it with juice he takes it better. I would mix the medicine and juice together and then pull it up in the siringe and give it too. Good Luck! Things should get better as he gets older.

If he is bottle-fed then take the nipple off his bottle and squirt the med directly into the nipple and let him suck it out--usually 2-3 good sucks and it's gone. He will get all the med this way and when sucking the liquid bypasses the tongue so he doesn't taste it.
