Seriously, with the exception of Haley, all the female contestants are fat. Is this because Americans in general are getting fatter each year? What's the deal?

Maybe American Idol is looking for a more realistic "idol" for people to look up to. The other contestants aren't all that "fat" by any means... certainly not obese. They're a healthy weight, which is something that a lot of kids who watch the show could stand to see every so often.

Leading a healthy lifestyle can be a lot better than being anorexic in order to look like your favorite celebrity.

if this was a beauty competition then it would matter. this is a singing competition, so of course the one with the best voice will win (hopefully). the voters are the ones that keeping them there, because they have good vocal skills. and yea, the cameras add 10lbs to what we see on TV. who gives a damn if they aren't anorexic looking? oh yea, many people in America are getting fatter each year, but it's their fault, because they are the ones that allow themselves to get that way by eating nonsense constantly.

It really doesn't matter what a person's size is but maybe it's because they spend a lot more time working on their voice and music abilities then they do trying to get into size 2 down to your crotch jeans. Not everyone tries to advance in their career with their bodies. Some go by their talent and ability.

......i would say that Haley is the only one that is "skinny"
.....Yes Lakisha is a little heavier, however that mainly has to do with the fact that her boobs are Big.....women with big boobs (naturally) tend to give off the impression of being "fat"

.....As far as Jordin, Gina and Melinda they are all really healthy looking, and are at the appropriate weights for their size and bone structure.

They're not fat, we're just too used to seeing SKINNY women on T.V.! It's about time they put women on a show that actually look human, not like a stick!
