Ok, i'm 38wks 3 days pregnant and i have a problem with the car that needs to be fixed (but doesn't affect the drive-ability as its a problem with the air con compressor). I just found out today its going to cost me $1,500 to fix (ouch... hadn't factored THAT in while working out financials!) but it COULD also take a few days to fix.

Being 38wks pregnant do i book the car in and do without for a few days - just so its fixed before baby or do i factor in that i could POSSIBLY go into labour sooner rather than later and hold off so that i have the car there should i need it? My hospital is a 30min drive away from home.

Just looking for some opinions from others as to what you would do?

Thanks!

I don't have taxis around where I live, so personally I would get the car in to get fixed let them know that you need it a.s.a.p because of maybe going into labor and just book another ride from a relative or friend and if that isn't possible the ambulance could always take you! You will need a car that is dependable when the baby gets here. Good Luck and I wish you the very best when the baby arrives!

Take it to a shop that will give you a free loaner car while they work on yours.

But, given the scenario you described I'd wait until after the baby is born and have the car fixed then.

I'd book it to get it fixed. Most normal pregnancies are pretty accurate at being exactly 40 weeks! I'm now pregnant with my 4th, but from prior experience, all of my kids came really close to their due date...only 2-3 days early. I would'nt sweat it! :)

I would book the car in. Have you had any signs of going into labour soon? Other children?
